Otoko Neutral Newbie May 8, 2012 Share May 8, 2012 My current ride is E200AV for one half month , though the ride is slower pick-up and over-taking was a shady cow, you need to step harder to catch-up. Maintenance is definitely lower & affordable as compared to BMW & Audi, and alot safer too Once on the high-way, it was a breeze, The E200AV has snazzier IT, rear-view parking sensor / keyless start etc, electric seat was a plus accessories. Due to its Kompressor engine, it's roar louder from the purring engine emitting 184horse-power. Could improve on leather seat to have air-con insole and softer engine refinement, the arm-rest holder where power-window switches could be accentuates to tilt at an angle to driver's finger comfort. Glove-box compartment was a wee bit smaller, lastly the floor-mat could be thicker and lush carpet for long ride up north would be a delight for tired feet. The rest I cannot complain much, I think MB should do away with the symbol stand-up to be removed from the bonnet ( such a sore-thumb ) I chose MB due to reliability and overall ow maint. cost. its the bonnet mb star that makes me drives all my benz~ fyi, u can change the star to a flat cap but u may also like to change the grill to match sporty look~ ↡ Advertisement
Oakleykoh Neutral Newbie May 8, 2012 Share May 8, 2012 You can always engage a mechanic with the 'examiner' to go with you to check the car that you are interested and they will be able to diagnose what are the underlying problems that you might face should you purchase the car, most importantly will be the gearbox transmission. You pay that little amount of money but save up a lot more with the repair next time!
Otoko Neutral Newbie May 8, 2012 Share May 8, 2012 does C&C provide car inspection services? Say if i want to buy a car from outside, whether through dealer or private transaction, can i bring the car to C&C for them to do inspection and testing? Don't tell me go STA, i know that evaluation only checks major things. u may like to check if that benz is from C&C or PL~ C&C may entertain u with a fee if its from PL~ btw dont think anyone is willing to check every parts in a benz~ its gonna take over a mth i guess~

WML888 2nd Gear May 12, 2012 Share May 12, 2012 If you have no issue with road tax on E230, I would say : go for E280. Either E200 or E280.
ER-3682 Twincharged May 12, 2012 Share May 12, 2012 But the smaller V6[E230] is a tad smoother than its elder brother[E280],maybe piston lighter..anyway you don't need 280's power in S'pore roads.
WML888 2nd Gear May 14, 2012 Share May 14, 2012 E280's power will come in useful when cruising at NSHW.

ER-3682 Twincharged May 14, 2012 Share May 14, 2012 E280's power will come in useful when cruising at NSHW. Anyway if cruising at let says 130-140km/h,not much diffrence between 230 & 280,but if going those old roads[need to overtake those lorries],280 is much better. Meanmachine Supercharged May 14, 2012 Share May 14, 2012 BMW528i better BMW high maint cost, and gear box problem always, only good thing is the high spec & comfort ride both in and out
Jolie888 Clutched May 14, 2012 Share May 14, 2012 BMW high maint cost, and gear box problem always, only good thing is the high spec & comfort ride both in and out Not to mention Valvetronic motor and the main eccentric cam going out of phase with the cylinders' valve timing and TDC apex. Usually happens by 80-120K km for most of the Valvetronic engines. Solution? PML will repace the whole Valvetronic motor. Very expensive!
CH_CO 6th Gear May 14, 2012 Share May 14, 2012 If road tax and petrol are non issues, definitely the 230. Although not faster than the E200K, it's got a much smoother engine, much better gearbox, a lot more refined and overall really pleasant to drive in comparison. The E200K gearbox is absolutely agricultural. Any Honda gearbox feels better. Agreed. Have a E200k myself , i still think accord better .
