Illegal Parking - 3 Authorities ..........

My neighbour approachd me yesterday and was fuming mad with regards to some vehicles illegal parking along the road within HDB area causing inconvenient to other motorists. He specified to the authorities that he just want those vehicles owners to park at the 2 MSCP within walking distant and no need to issue any summons.

He informed that, first he called '999' about the parking issue and was told that nowadays, police do not take action on illegal parking. Not even Traffic Police Department and the task was taken over by LTA. He was given a hotline number to call LTA.

So he called LTA and informed of the illegal parking. Location and area was given to LTA officer on the other line. 10 minutes later, LTA officer called back and informed that, if its illegal parking within HDB area, HDB enforcement unit should take action. My neighbour then goes 'hur', why pushing from one department to another. He argued with LTA officer that the vehicles are parking on the road with a road name and what HDB got to do with it. So the officer agreed to send their warden to check.

So my point is does we need to carry all SG departments telephone numbers to get thing done ?

Why pushing around responsibilities by 3 authoritries or maybe 4 (if also include URA warden unit) over a location? :o

What happen to our 'Service Industry'? No wonder we lack behind to so many countries in rendering 'Services'. Japan score the highest.

STOMPer Edwin is upset that none of the authorities he contacted to help in his hit and run case appear able to help, as they have 'many cases to handle'.The STOMPer wrote:"I parked my car at Anchorpoint Shopping Centre at Alexandra on Friday (Apr 27) at around 7pm. "I went for dinner and then shopped around, returning to my car at around 9.10pm. "I discovered that the front bonnet and the top part of the grille area were crashed into by another vehicle, causing two big dents and many deep gashes that peeled away the paint. "Sad to say the driver who crashed into my car was nowhere in sight. From the location of the damage caused, I can conclude it was caused by a lorry. "I wanted to view the CCTV footage, hoping to get the vehicle plate numbers of lorries, but it became a nightmare as the shopping centre security pushed the responsibility to carpark security, who pushed it to carpark management, who in turn pushed it to the Police. "It was subsequently pushed again to the Traffic Police. But I was told by their call centre operator that their 'investigation' process is slow and will take some time. I was also told that there was no point in speaking to the officer now as he also has many other cases handle, and many procedures to follow. "The reason why I want to speak to the officer is to share information with him or her, including the fact that there was a high possibility that the vehicle involved is a lorry. "As a tax payer I am disappointed to receive this kind of of service. At the end of the day the pushing around of responsibility from all the parties involved was even worse than my car getting damaged."

Thought our PM mentioned years back there was a No U-Turn Policy in place for ministries and SBs which IIRC meant that any feedback to a wrong department would be automatically channeled to the right one without any more effort from the person giving the feedback?

No more in place meh?

Below are abstract from SPF

http://www.spf.gov.sg/epc/procedures/purvi...heragencies.htm

The Singapore Police Force is committed to providing a high standard of service to the Public. However, our officers often receive several kinds of requests that do not fall directly under our purview. Furthermore, those requests usually relate to non-emergency matters where Police assistance is not necessary.

As our officers must always be ready to respond to any genuine emergency request, we will not deal with cases that are not directly related to safety or security.

You should contact the government departments or agencies that are directly responsible to handle your requests. The following is a list of common functions handled by other Public agencies:

HDB BRANCH OFFICE

Corroded air-conditioner casings.

Illegal parking at HDB car parks.

Illegal parking along HDB service roads, at loading/unloading parking lots or in front of rubbish collection centres.

Nuisance caused by renovation works in HDB flats.

Infringement of the lease/tenancy agreement by commercial lessees/tenants operating within HDB premises.

Un-neighbourly behaviours.

TOWN COUNCIL

Unattended and potentially dangerous items left on the parapet or windowsill.

Permits for hosting functions at void decks and community areas.

Noise from Town Council managed community areas such as communal halls, pavilions etc.

Residents playing games at common areas causing nuisance.

Obstruction of common walkway by goods and wares displayed outside shops.

Water dripping from wet clothing.

Misuse of water and electricity from Public source at common areas.

Illegal parking, painting or repairing of motorcycles at void decks, footpaths and aprons surrounding HDB blocks.

Putting up signs and advertisements at lift lobbies and common areas.

Damage to common property.

Dumping of objects and debris at common areas.

Obstruction of common property.

Note: The above list is a generic one. Please contact your respective Town Councils for details on the types of services which come under their purview.

NATIONAL ENVIRONMENT AGENCY (NEA)

Noise pollution from construction sites, roads, road works and religious buildings.

Complaints of illegal hawking.

Hygiene in food establishments and food centres.

Health nuisance caused by air pollution, dust and smoke.

Feedback on littering at public places.

Feedback on smoking at prohibited areas.

AGRI- FOOD AND VETERINARY AUTHORITY OF SINGAPORE (AVA)

Complaints on stray animals.

Complaints on unleashed or un-muzzled dogs.

Reporting of animal cruelty cases.

LAND TRANSPORT AUTHORITY (LTA)

Complaints of faulty traffic-lights.

Maintenance of road facilities such as overhead bridges, pedestrian footpaths and bus shelters.

Illegal vehicle modifications.

Obstruction of Public roads by skip-bins, rubbish bins and other objects.

Illegal parking along public roads and footways.

COMMUNITY MEDIATION CENTRE (CMC)

CMCs were set up by the Ministry of Law to resolve social and relational conflicts amicably through mediation. Mediation is a flexible and informal process to isolate disputed issues, develop options and explore alternatives so as to ultimately reach a consensual settlement. If you have a dispute with your family, friends or neighbours and a crime was not committed, you should contact CMCs directly for assistance.

Visit http://www.spf.gov.sg/999/nonpolice.htm for a list of contact information of the relevant agencies on non-police matters

it call no wrong door policy

next time get the operator name and shoot letter chialat chialat

IF

you call and they say its not their taichi, then tell you who you should call

please take note of the no wrong door policy

the correct way is

you call and they say its not their taichi and then they will offer to direct your feedback to the correct authorities

at the same time get that correct authorities to get back to them on action taken so they can update you the status

honestly speaking coming from a stat board

really sickening when other agency push the feedback to my side when in the 1st place it is their area scope of work

hence the pass the ball around

If my neighbour called '999' and inform a cat & dog are fighting at the void deck, then I will advise him accordinly but its not any issue but something to do with vehicles parking causing inconvenient or danger to other road users. So what come to one mind if involve vehicles.... Police.

Be it Division Police, NPC, NPP or Traffic Police.... there's only one number to call '999' or would one prefer that someone been knock down and a life lost or somebody love one laid in hospital then proper authority take action.

Who has the power to stop a vehicle on the road, Police right. If a civilian wants to stop a vehicle, would you think the driver will stop?

He didn't know that the responsibilities had been diversify to so many departments base on location of incident so he is not guilty of wasting tax payers money by calling '999'.
