Maxus-MIFA9 Supersonic May 2, 2012 Share May 2, 2012 My neighbour approachd me yesterday and was fuming mad with regards to some vehicles illegal parking along the road within HDB area causing inconvenient to other motorists. He specified to the authorities that he just want those vehicles owners to park at the 2 MSCP within walking distant and no need to issue any summons. He informed that, first he called '999' about the parking issue and was told that nowadays, police do not take action on illegal parking. Not even Traffic Police Department and the task was taken over by LTA. He was given a hotline number to call LTA. So he called LTA and informed of the illegal parking. Location and area was given to LTA officer on the other line. 10 minutes later, LTA officer called back and informed that, if its illegal parking within HDB area, HDB enforcement unit should take action. My neighbour then goes 'hur', why pushing from one department to another. He argued with LTA officer that the vehicles are parking on the road with a road name and what HDB got to do with it. So the officer agreed to send their warden to check. So my point is does we need to carry all SG departments telephone numbers to get thing done ? Why pushing around responsibilities by 3 authoritries or maybe 4 (if also include URA warden unit) over a location? What happen to our 'Service Industry'? "Sad to say the driver who crashed into my car was nowhere in sight. From the location of the damage caused, I can conclude it was caused by a lorry. "I wanted to view the CCTV footage, hoping to get the vehicle plate numbers of lorries, but it became a nightmare as the shopping centre security pushed the responsibility to carpark security, who pushed it to carpark management, who in turn pushed it to the Police. "It was subsequently pushed again to the Traffic Police. But I was told by their call centre operator that their 'investigation' process is slow and will take some time. I was also told that there was no point in speaking to the officer now as he also has many other cases handle, and many procedures to follow. "The reason why I want to speak to the officer is to share information with him or her, including the fact that there was a high possibility that the vehicle involved is a lorry. "As a tax payer I am disappointed to receive this kind of of service. If my neighbour called '999' and inform a cat & dog are fighting at the void deck, then I will advise him accordinly but its not any issue but something to do with vehicles parking causing inconvenient or danger to other road users. So what come to one mind if involve vehicles.... Police. Be it Division Police, NPC, NPP or Traffic Police.... there's only one number to call '999' or would one prefer that someone been knock down and a life lost or somebody love one laid in hospital then proper authority take action. Who has the power to stop a vehicle on the road, Police right. If a civilian wants to stop a vehicle, would you think the driver will stop?
