Spared: No jail time for road-rage offender

A road-rage offender escaped jail after a district judge on Thursday exercised judicial mercy and imposed the maximum fine of $5,000 and a one-year driving ban.

 

District Judge May Mesenas took into consideration the exceptional circumstances in this case, primarily the man's medical condition. The normal punishment for a convicted road-rage offender is a jail sentence.

 

Retired businessman Sunny Tiang Thian Oon, 56, who was seated in a wheelchair in court on Thursday, suffers from depression as well as back and spinal problems, among other things.

 

He was found guilty last November of hurting dog trainer Patrick Wong, 53, in June 2010.

　　路霸不满被超车，挥拳打伤超车者，按一般情况应该坐牢，但法官基于他身患多种严重疾病，入狱可能危及他的生命，法外开恩判他罚款和执照吊销。

 

　　55岁的被告田添温否认有罪，案件在去年4月开始审讯，由于他的健康出现问题，案件一直展期，断断续续审理了12天，在11月25日被判有罪，昨天下判。

 

　　田添温昨天坐在轮椅上，由家人陪同出庭。

 

　　田添温面对一项轻微伤行人罪状，指他在2010年6月5日，在玛丽蒙路和碧山22街交界处，多次挥拳打伤者黄汉辉（52岁）的脸部。

 

　　控方证据显示，事发当天下午5时，黄汉辉开车来到玛丽蒙路，因超越田添温的汽车，令田添温不高兴，开车截住黄汉温，几次挥拳打黄汉辉的脸部。

 

　　事后，黄汉辉开车离开，田添温不罢休，开车跟在后面，在黄汉辉下车后，用粗话辱骂他。

 

　　根据警方记录，田添温有行为不检、危险驾驶撞死人及打架案底。

Why blame them for Keng all the way when the judge is ready to buy? Since the day the judge bought the argument of not able to differentiate between a tree trunk and a cyclist, I'd already lost all hope. In short, I think they are hopeless...

A sad depress old man. I pity him actually.

His only son died last year,fell from building in a local Uni.

It is stated in Zaobao this morning.

The wheelchair looks like its brand new with tyres and joints clean and white without any trace of dirt.

 

The neck brace is so overdone. Must have shopped for the biggest and conspicuous that you can find.
