Jfkoh 1st Gear April 26, 2012 Share April 26, 2012 (edited) As above, nearly got into an accident today at orchard road.. from left 1st lane was bus lane i was at 2nd and this woman driver driving a golf was at 3rd lane.. then suddenly she swerve into my lane and nearly hit onto me.. till i siam to the left and horn then she move back to her lane.. Lucky there was no bus/car on the left.. just wondering if i do have evidence showing she was the 1 who cause me to swerve to the left and say i hit an vehicle, in this case who is liable? Assuming she run away or she stay.. Edited April 26, 2012 by Jfkoh ↡ Advertisement
Exanimated Neutral Newbie April 26, 2012 Share April 26, 2012 (edited) First of all, Right lane is the 1st lane. Mid is 2nd, Left is 3rd. And to answer your question, if you have hard evidence, you should be able to open up a case against the driver should it be deemed that his/her dangerous/reckless driving caused your accident. Assuming she run away or she stay.. You may be aware that LTA already named the right most lane as Lane 1 (mainly for overtaking) On the left of which is Lane 2, on the left of which is Lane 3, on the left of which is Lane 4, on the left of which is Lane 5... Lane 3, Land 4, Lane 5 sometimes is a bus lane along the roadside kerb By using your own lane-naming method we may be confused

Assuming she run away or she stay.. I don't understand why people have the mentality of swerving to avoid a vehicle. Unless you are totally aware of your surroundings, stay in your own lane and jam brake. Do not endanger drivers on other lanes! Of course you're likely to lose the case unless you have a cam in your car to prove that the other driver caused you to rear end him.

Assuming she run away or she stay.. It would not help. You should not have swerved. If you swerve must check that it is clear first. If you did not swerve then she hit you then there is a chance she'll have to take responsibility if you have evidence.

Hondavvvtec 1st Gear April 26, 2012 Share April 26, 2012 cant deny the fact that most ppl actually sway to avoid getting hit esp when the driver is just on your right hand side and suddenly cuts into your lane where jam brake will also hit him /her
Jfkoh 1st Gear April 26, 2012 Author Share April 26, 2012 This is actually not my first encounter. Same thing happen at cte Now for.normal 1st lane on the right i was on 3rd. And 1 car at 2nd and 1 more on 1st The 1st lane car swerve into 2nd lane, causing 2nd lane car to horn n swerve into mine. But this time round my front was just behind the 2nd lane car and i do have time to react to jam brake to avoid him hitting me.. In this case if he hit me. I will 100% claim him even though i did witness the 1st lane car incident. Right? So in the end its still the 1 who hit is at fault right?

If so, a bus lane is normally never on the rightmost lane. Therefore, until you can decide (regardless the no. of lanes on that road) which is lane 1 i.e. extreme right or extreme left, I doubt it would help to post an opinion since you chose to ignore the rest of forummers who tried to correct your confusion. Jfkoh 1st Gear April 26, 2012 Author Share April 26, 2012 very simple, behind suppose to keep safe distance REGARDLESS Its.normal human behaviour. Like i mention her car was just beside mine. Have you thought that if you jam brake and the vehicle behind hit you it is his fault? It is because he never keep a safe distance. If he kept a safe distance he would not have hit you. If you swerve to the left or right then you might hit someone who was really driving/riding in his own lane safely. ↡ Advertisement
