Think of it this way.

It's a limousine for 255k.

I don't consider the typical Lexus as limo.

Only the LS models

same thought...............

Most likely will be company car. Wife's company(Jap) got 1 for their MD. Japanese always like to support each others, including tables & chairs .....

Agreed, i think people who buy toyota crown usually is registered as a company car. Esp those japanese company who is loyal using jap made car. But i believe they only can sell one crown once a blue moon. [:p]

Think of it, its not designed to look stylish or modern on the outside. Its the inside that really matters. Its not meant for everyone as well. More like a Tow Kay car.

Which is why i guess those people who buy a crown mostly are big bosses, CEO or managing director.

OK this came straight from the BM sales manager, when I spoke to him a few years ago.

High % of Crown buyers in Singapore are Japanese managers working in Japanese companies here.

Rule #1: Company car must be Japanese brand.

Me: Then why not a Lexus?

Rule #2: Especially for senior management, car model must be top of the range.

Thus for Toyota, it is the Crown and for Lexus, the LS460.

Me: Then why not the LS460?

Rule #3: There is a max budget for company cars in all companies - any company.

Thus most Japanese senior managers find the LS460 to be out of their budget.

So it has to be the Crown!

Moral of the story: Even if they prefer to get the Lexus GS (which may be within their budget), it is not allowed, since the GS is not top of the range model.

In any case, I was told that in terms of overall refinement and rear seat amenities, the GS cannot hold a candle to the Crown.

The Crown has option for a refrigerator behind. The GS does not.

The Crown has electrically adjustable rear seat, the GS' is fixed.

The Crown is designed to be a rear towkay limousine. The GS isn't.

Crown is basically a quieter type of camry, driving experience definitely lack something over German cars... I would anytime go for F10 over crown. i am not a badge whore mind u

Different purpose leh. The 5er is built around the driver, with good driving characteristic, the 535i Touring with X drive is my ideal everyday all round family car. Can drive to work everyday, all year, can go long road trip, go up Alpine mountains, can load tonnes of stuff into the boot, quite fast, & Look very nice as well.

The crown looks like another work of Toyota 'talented' design team, but it is designed to be ferry around in the rear in comfort. Its mean for people that wanted to get comfort in the rear seat from point to point.

As mentioned, the Crown isn't designed with the driver in mind.

It is for the rear seat passenger(s).

So handling, F/R balance, road holding are not in it's design considerations.

But it gives the smoothest, quietest ride possible - within its price point, with the best optional entertainment and relaxation amenities for the rear seat passenger.

I was told that the older-generation Yakuza bosses are all driven around in Royal Crowns.

Bro. I'm surprised that u can't see crowns competitive advantage is the tow Kayness feel at a modest price.

It is not meant for century sprint or handling.

So both are totally not comparable.

It's just like saying rolls Royce can't corner as well as a Ferrari, to exaggerate the analogy
