Agree with you. 3 years left will be a waste on new rims.

Can try Woodlands inidustrial park for second hand rims.

or some bigger tyre retailers may also offer.

can a damage rim such as slight warp or bend

will cause a slow leak of air?

my tire is leaking air slow

about 3-5 psi per day

the thing is, it is on a slight dent rim

only during high speed balancing you can see the rim wobble

previously same problem

but after i change a new tyre and after about 4000km

the problem resurface

so back to the top sentence...

Rims that are warped / dented often occurred when the wheel ran over humps / pot holes .This usually occur in the front . If the dents are minor , they could be sand down , build up weld and polish to restore .

Ps look out for hairline cracks that could be disastrous if overlooked .

Used rims often have "out of round" issues , the initial balancing will keep yr ride comfortable for awhile , however , after a while as the rims moved over more humps and uneven roads , the deterioration of material increased fatigue and ageing of the rims , the warpage increases , and that is the reason why the ride became "choppy" as it wear out .

That is why it is very important to buy a good set of rims , and if there is no alternative but a used one , try to get one with a

reputed brand . ( OEM and PRC rims uses low quality aluminium alloy which may not be robust and easily damage )

If a rim is warped ( usually out of round / concentricity ) , no matter what tyres u fit , leakage will occur .

The rim needs to be re-machined on a lathe to correct its roundness and concentricity .

If the Concentricity is too bad , the amount of material removal will be insufficient , the rim will have to be disgarded .

Am wondering for tyres, we need to change a brand new set according to usage. But how come we do not need to change rims? What is the lifespan for rims? If you are using the same rims on your car for 10 years or more, will the rims suddenly give way? [:/]

hey guys...and a gal included [:p]

found the culprit that cause the leak

it was a 2" screw stuck right in the middle of the tyre

my mech plug the hole, after pulling the screw, let me drive for about 2 hours

and then he took off my wheel and submerge it in basin full of water and observe any air bubble

there is no air bubble

but he then told me to monitor the situation

for the warp rims he told me mine is not that bad

No worries, but you still have to change ties when the time comes. If selling or scrapping by then, get the used ones from that place I PM you. My friends did just that as well.

Hi all,

Anyone here knows where can i weight my car rim?

Remove the whole tyre & rim assembly and put on a weighing scale should do the job [laugh]

Weight of your tyre can be found on the spec sheet.

Do some maths and you'll get the weight of your rim [cool]
