Yah, although this is sidetracking from TS' topic, i also want to know about this sweet spot. My avante has terrible FC despite me not revving beyond 2500rpm

Hi All,

I m driving my premio with my 18" Rays rims with Nexen N3000 tires. configuration is 225/40 R18. I still can hit 13km/L. [drivingcar] BTW I have also install Pivot 3-Drive Throttle Controller for fast pick up. [thumbsup] No complaint for it.

i am driving a 1.5L Allion too..

On a good month i can clock 18-19 km/L 80% highway

Seriously 1.5L is slightly under power, wonder any comments on 1.8L??

Does 1.8L comes with memory seat and FC is the same as 1.5L??

Yes, that is true.

Sweet spot for Allion CVT around 3k rpm.

Whats your FC like? City or highway speed? For Avante, should be AT right?

A/T Gear box, you have to try to get it to the highest gear with the lowest RPM fast.

CVT Gear box, constantly/continuous variable transmission, "every gear" will give best efficiency so you have to get to sweet speed fast to achieve good FC, the slower your pickup, the more fuel wasted at "low gear"

If the car don't have enough low end torque, this might also not be good.

I will prefer to accelerate fast to the cruising speed and it will be in the higher gear already.

Of course a 6spd auto will always be better than a 4spd auto as the rpm is lower when cruising.

Each have their own preference, for my old matrix, I can get to highest gear, which is gear 4 by 55kph, RPM will be around 1.5k. Still able to pull off from stop at pretty decent acceleration, but of course those impatient driver will KPKB, on average, most driver are doing around the same acceleration as me. =)

my premio hovers are 2000rpm @ 90km/h to maintain that speed. Is it alright or too high?

This should be normal. My previous Allion also around this speed.

Sorry for late reply. My fc for avante used to be 12-13km/l when I first bought it, now but it's like consistently slightly under 10km/l. Mostly city driving.

Reasonable for mostly city driving. [;)]

Use your on board FC meter to determine. I cannot gauge how to drive your car to achieve. My car FC hover around 30 to 35 at 85 kph.

Is ur a auto?

Auto no way to force higher rpm unless u floor it or switch overdrive mode aka sport mode. CVT not very responsive when flooring it so I can't imagine how to get it at higher rev to achieve the sweetspot?

Teana only can get good fc at highway once reach urban or jam it just burn the fuel like no need money

Mine is a CVT.

Auto car can be driven like a manual, everytime you rev to a certain RPM let say 2200, release the accelerator and step back again, it will actually change up gear, provided your speed is up as well.

Actually CVT VS Auto have been discuss and argue till death. I find my CVT very responsive as compare to my previous auto especially at range of 30 kph to 80 kph. Will try higher speed this weekend.

As compare to my previous auto, I can actually change lane or overtake much easier, maybe this car has more torque due to the motor assist when I step hard.

I think you might have got me wrong, I didn't mean higher rev to sweet spot, I mean rev is high so that you can achieve a sweet spot speed which by then your RPM will already be low.

1 of the reason for high FC on luxury car is their air conditioning, the other is the weight. The new Camry will give the same FC in urban or jam as well. In fact even VW 7spd DSG also the same.

You need learn to control your auto gear and CVT.

For CVT you just step harder to around 3k rpm during pick up and it will stay there, release your foot slightly when reach cruising speed.
