The Dragon & The Bear Playing In The Same Pond?

Eye-popping news: China & Russia start first navy drills.

Though they are both commies in ideology, they are not exactly comrades-in-arms so to speak.

Each has drifted apart since the early years and have evolved into their own style of "communism" individually over the past century. Each is now with their own sphere of influence over their proxies and a force to be reckoned with in it's own right against all other states especially their minor neighbours.

So to learn that they are joining forces for a naval drill is bewildering.

Purpose?

Not exactly a secret but to ruffle the feathers of the eagle at the other end of the pond to let it know that both of them are not to be trifled with individually and more so when they are in some sort of a pact.

Of course nobody will expect they will merge and work seamlessly as one entity to counter anyone during a crisis but still something to keep the Pentagon sit up and pay particular attention with this type of drills.

WWIII not likely but regional standoffs or limited conflicts possible.

Will be between proxies or even between a major player with one of them.

With the PRC now flexing it's muscles around it's "regional waters" which include the South China Sea and claims over resource- or fish-rich islands between states, it is a matter of time clashes will happen.

Its a dangerous world we lived in, & we have taken peace for granted for too long.

The world is buying so much MIC stuff, & its fueling their pockets, & allow them to expend their military. Now they are starting to flex their military might on its smaller neighbors.

This at a time, when many western nations are downsizing their military.

Not saying, and I hope not as well, that China will be a serious threat in future, but its best to be prepared.

China & Russian join force even more dangerous, 2 of the biggest countries with lots of land size & resource.

But I will pray for peace & appreciate that I lived in time of peace now everyday.

i thought soviet union has split up already? Does russia still control the economic zones on their east coast?

Yep the mighty soviet union had disintegrated but the main player Russia is still the potent force dominating the region. Fueled by its export of crude oil & other raw materials, she is slowly clawing back the past glory of its precedessor & is still exerting its influence both regionally & globally.

And it is not contented playing second fiddle to the US especially under the in-coming President Putin.

We will have to wait & see what this ex-KGB man into his new term of presidency will be up to next.
