To me, I rather the owner meet me, so I can pass him my entire servicing file. My cars are kept very well. I would gladly share the info as well as to see how my babe is keeping up....

5 out of 10 owners who sell their usuaully felt sick with the problems they face with their cars so they think of changing one. A used car usually comes with slight defects like wear and tear which is unavoidable. Some owner don't even know there are faults with their car because when they are driving it daily, they are adapted to the car condition.

When you bought a used car, it is safer to send to your own mechanic to do a thorough check. I usually don't bother to ask the seller cos he may not tell you the truth. Change the timing belt, engine oil and radiator pipes and you will be safe. Leave the rest until it has sign of defect.

Supercharged

There is no point in doing this. The previous owner may not tell you the truth, or he may not even know the faults. Some don't even remember when they did their last servicing or battery change.

You should instead sent your car to your trusted workshop for a major servicing and carry on from there. Depending on your car's mileage, you can change the timing belt also if its due.

I knew my previous car owner. He is my friend...but he could not recall when he did his last servicing, battery change, tire change, etc. He could only remember the last servicing was done within a year ago. So 2 weeks after I takeover, I send the car for a major servicing with a trusted mechanic.

i sent my car to the mech for an overhaul servicing alr, but the problems keep piling up. last week just replaced the aircon compressor.. not think the tranny is giving me problems. it is lethargic on take off...normal when it is pass. it shifts up and down without a hitch..maybe a clutch replacement?

i would want to just fin out what is being replaced during the course of his ownership ,

Did u verify whether the mileage is genuine? If not u will just have to do all the super major servicing like changing timing belt, water pumpa and fuel pump... Then pray the rest dun spoil.. For a high mileage car all these breakdowns are normal wear and tear

have you consider sending back to AD for a full check up???..............and get whatever due for replacement replace...............the thing with most WS is that they will only fix whatever is not working on that day...................but if the car is old or had been used heavily................or worse still......was a lemon from the start...........there would be many other parts falling apart soon one after another.............

there is really no point in trying to track down the previous owner...............he may or may not want to meet you............or worse till..............what if he tell you that..............yah this is a fcuking lemon............that is why i sold it away.............the feeling not going to be good.............. ha...

ya.. was toying around with the idea of sending back to KAH for servicing..maybne shold do that.

one way is mayb send back to AD and get them to do a full check...............get to know whatever need to be replace or soon due for replacement.........pay for the service fee..................and get the parts changed outside...........will be cheaper that way........... :D :D

Beware of In-Carz Automobiles...

The sales-man, Roy Lee, sold me a one-yr old BMW X1 car....with the promise of free service warranty for the first 3 times...mileage as of today is 8000KM.

However, when I went to PML to do very first servicing, they said the car does NOT come with any service warranty!! Shocking!!

When confronted, Roy asked his colleague and his colleague or boss actually knew about this! Roy then said he only told me what he was told by the previous owner! And he/the company will not take responsibility for this LIE that he made to me..He basically mis-sold the car and lied! He did not even apologise for this! Outrageous!

I strongly do not recommend new buyers to buy from this dealer. I will for sure boycott this dealer forever!!!

p.s: they have a few showrooms around Commonwealth with other names as well..so ask around..

the free 3 servicing is from the dealer or from PML?

either way, demand a compensation(get the avg price(with GST all incl) of servicing a X1 for 3 times from PML) from them and report to CASE(whether they got work or not i don't know, just report and claims that you have been misled by the salesman into purchasing the vehicle.

alternatively, since you can buy a X1,so should be quite loaded, you can always engage a attorney to send them a love letter demanding the compensation amount else fight it out in court.some lawyer letters quite cheap around few hundreds(letter only) can already.if the dealer want to play, lets go to court for higher stakes.but most of them will pay up and avoid going to court if they are in the wrong.still you have to report to case.
