Also interesting to note that while the Scirocco R won the race, it was actually not the fastest car. But nonetheless damned impressive straightway speed though...

The Civic Type R Driver in the "R" battle is a joke. He doesn't know how to keep the rpm within the power band and his cornering speed is way too slow.

Now lets look at someone who really knows how to drive the car.

FD2 Type R driven by Tsuchiya - Best Lap 1'08"278 (Note that it wasn't even a time attack)

i knew you would come into this thread [laugh] it was a trap

if you know what i mean.

calling such drivers a joke. lol. CTR is a nice car, but in a race, lose lose lor. congratulate the winner and move on. must act so defensive. this thread about golf but it was 4th in the R race anyway.

There's more to a "best car" other than speed ya know. Style wise the French cars are still the most aggressive (but Korean marques are starting to shine too). Overall finish feel probably a Merc > VW, ride comfort probably Audi/Merc > VW.

If you purely assess it on a 0-60 drag race, then yeah Golf GTI is hard to beat perhaps.

i think he reads spec and pick the one with biggest HP/Torques? from jap, to VW, to Audi.... numbers impress him a lot... but of course he will mod the suspension also, to make if comfy... thats him :D

but the dsg boxes are indeed a level ahead in performance. i thk this is really what the japs mus do to catch up. i cant believe they r stil doing the 4at, 5at torque converter boxes. no doubt sst is in the right direction but looks like tat has died as well. sianz.... [:(]

to be honest, i feel the driver plays a part in races.... naturally. if the vid really shows inapt driving style for a particular car, we can still say a win is a win, but maybe not entirely the faults/shortcomings of the car... [:)]

the few companies which make DSG boxes and supply them to car makers will be laughing to the banks soon... [:)]

i guess the jap always dont give up easily until really got no choice.... this may be one such cases

mazda perserveres with the rotary till today when other makers gave it up long ago... or given up lately?

yes, last year watched the ScRs raced in Medeka 1000km, mixed with the lamborg/ferraris etc.... pretty fast even they were lapped many times by the big boys..... just slightly behind the evos/wrxs in lap times... closed fight with some integraRs....
