Go Sim Lim Sq. buy one and fit it yourself. Far cheaper.

Go for ssd if you got a good system processor, ram etc,

I put in a old SSD to a netbook and get noticeable performance boost too. It still lags but much better than default hdd.

Dare to say my 3yr+ lappy with ssd is more responsive than the highest end lappy with hdd now. [blush]

S$190 can get a 128gb ssd from amazon/newegg.

SSD will perform way better than normal harddisk. Not only performance, it also more resistant to shock, consume less power and last longer. This is due to SSD has no moving parts as compared to normal harddisk and is chip embadded to the board itself.

The downside for SSD is that if one accidently deleted something and want to retrive data and if normal software data recoverly unable to retrive and need to go for professional to retrive data, the cost of retriving will be many times more expensive than normal hard disk.

* Plus one more thing, it is also lighter than normal harddisk. [laugh] [laugh]

This is because, normal harddisk has more storage and still less expensive than SSD . A 1TB normal hardisk can only buy about 120GB of SSD harddisk.

If i'm not wrong, the shops at Sim Lim are selling around ~100 for 320GB HDD, ~110-140 for 500GB HDDs. Rather you buy and fit it yourself, can save a bit.

The thought of doing data recovery and loading of many software simply irks me.

I am better of changing spark plugs........ [blush]
