Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear April 11, 2012 Share April 11, 2012 I think by keeping left the car also won't be able to siam... It's all down to being sibeh sway... Damages/injuries could be less severe, if they had kept left

Peregrine Clutched April 11, 2012 Share April 11, 2012 put a pair of sicissors or penknife in car glove box. just in case.. I keep a Osram LED Saver Light under driver seat rather than in the glove box, which may prove too far away to reach after an accident. This torchlight is specially designed with (a) two shielded blades for cutting the fabric of the seat belt and (b) two hardened points on the rim to hammer for breaking window pane (I have not tested effectiveness of this). © Handle itself has 12 blinking red LEDs to serve as warning (attention-getting) light. (d) Rim has magnet so can mount on outside of car door. It comes with a cradle that can be stuck to side with double-sided tape or to carpet by provided pin device. I think it is worthwhile to buy such a safety device.
Peregrine Clutched April 11, 2012 Share April 11, 2012 If caught, I think the punishment denotes to 3 demerit points and $120 fine. Peregrine Clutched April 11, 2012 Share April 11, 2012 i always have habit of asking passengers to belt up.. but it seems like most still prefer not to.. even my wife.. i alweats tell her i can insist on her belting up in my car, but if she doesnt have the habit of doing this all the time, when she sits in other car, she will still not have the habit, so better mae it a habit. For those who are still not convinced about need to fasten seat-belts, the following video clips may help: Start with the soft approach: If still not successful, show more gory video clips: Third level, if still cannot convince, enlist the help of professional dummies! If still not effective after trying all the above, then I think you have no choice but to install this device: And also install interlock so that car can only be started after all occupants have fasten seat belts. For a passenger who prefers not to fasten seat belts, driver should ask for $120 deposit in cash (which I think is the amount of fine driver has to pay if TP caught any passenger not belted up) and ask him to be prepared to pay another $120 fine himself. If still do not wish to comply, tell him "please alight!". Sometime $$$ can convince more effectively!! Peregrine Clutched April 11, 2012 Share April 11, 2012 I think the very basic reason for not wearing is comfortness. Whenever I have 3 passengers in the rear(mostly colleagues for lunch), they do not like to wear as it is difficult to find the belt (which belt and which point) and all...But, I never leave parking without all of them buckled. In addition to demerit points, my company would not approve insurance in case if we are caught without belt or on mobile etc... You are right in doing that! In the full (print) report of Straits Times it was mentioned 'Part-time administrative assistant Kevin Beck, 19, cited discomfort for not belting up in the rear. He also feels back-seat passengers are likely to be "protected from being flung forward" by the seats in front.' It is alarming that many passengers have this mistaken view. It will very enlightening to such passengers (including yours who make excuse about "difficulty" to find the correct belt) to see some of crash test videos. The results & injuries to crash-test dummies will help make them realise how not belting up may not only kill them but also injure/kill the driver and front-seat passenger. The injuries are far more severe than most passengers (and many drivers) imagine. Keep in mind that frontal offset carsh tests are conducted at only 64km/hr, side impact at 50km/hr (so most of our cars not having side & curtain airbags make us more at risk) and pole collision (like hitting tree or lamp psot sideways) is at 29km/hr. So don't expect full protection when the car collides at 90km/hr! ...... never mind the car having 5-star Euro NCAP crash test rating. In a road accident, there are actually three collisions: (a) car with the other vehicle or object, (b) occupants of the car with objects (front seatss, dashboard or airbag, steering wheel, windscreen, inside of doors) or another occupant, and © internal organs (brain included) of that person against his bone structure or skull. Often it may be the last collision that actually kills occupants in a road accident. Prevention is better than cure; better to be safe than regret after the accident.
