isn't the ES in the same range as GS? quoting previous model, IS was 2000cc (IS200) while the ES came in minimum ES300, same like GS300.

anyw things may hv changed this time.

No..ES is just an "Upmarket" Camry...while the IS,GS & LS are 'proper' Lexus..

but they stil share the same Toyota platforms...eg. GS I googled is the S platform which is same as Toyota crown.

unless the ES is like the RX, jus rebadge and add some premium frills... [:)]

No. They didn't bring in the last ES because Lexus didn't make RHD for the last model.

This time round, they may consider making RHD again.

The last model had ES240 (same as Camry 2.4L) sold in China, followed by ES270 (Same engine as RX270), and the ES350.

This current model will have ES250 (4-cyl same as Camry 2.5L), ES300h (2.5V6 Hybrid), and ES350 (Same engine as GS350).

Err...correction. ES300h runs on 2.5L 4-Cyl, similar drivetrain to Camry Hybrid. The 2.5L V6 used in the IS/GS/Mark X/Crown has never been adapted to run on a transverse FWD platform before, if I am not mistaken.

Basically, ES300 is really a re-skinned, upmarket Camry. In SG there isn't even a V6 to distinguish it from the Camry, unlike the last one.

In US the es350 costs 36370, while the is250 costs 36000. so the price for the es350 is around the same as the is250. but borneo may bring in the 2.5v6 non hybrid to undercut the is250 price

A4 is an upmarket of Jetta. A3 is an upmarket of Golf.

A4 should be to Passat....not Jetta...the A3 sedan is to Jetta..

it seems like the engine in the es250 is actually different from the 1 in gs250. got a feeling that the engine in es250 is the exact same engine as the 1 found in the 2.5 camry

same power as the camry 2.5 at 184bhp...

I think they shared the same engine since both are F.W,D..
