How to maintain Windows sills (rubber)?

Hi all,

 

What do you use to maintain or polish your car windows sills? Some of these rubber tend to degenerate after some years due to our hot weather.

All car product brands have a "Vinyl and Rubber" protectant product. Use this it will suffice very very well.

Apply a thin layer every time you wash your car, using a clean cloth, attached to your fingertip, spray product and apply

onto sills, window rubber gaskets etc. If you must know, I use Meguiars. Welcome.

those rubber trims can cost upwards of a couple of thousand (full complete set).

but usually it's those nearer to the windows degrading first. due to containments, wear n tear.

 

otherwise, the practice suggested by mazdaowner is sound. and try to keep the vehicle out of the sun as much as possible. ie: when parking. that helps quite a bit.

Application once every week or fortnight will suffice. My last car was 9yrs old,

all was good, not bragging, so good, when I wanted to scrap, dealer said no, export out.

Didn't even need to change rubber etc. Regular maintenance is for sure needed.

Nothing lasts forever, but you can extend the life with knowhow.

My car is only 2 years old. Already making noises when winding down the window. Workshops only lubricate and soon the noise return again. Frameless windows + parallel import car. What to do?

Where is he noise coming from? Motor or sill?

Use silicon spray. It should eliminate the noise after you spray.

Use Silicon spray, only cost $8 to buy one big can.Mine was motor giving way, thup thup to revitalize it. spray silicon on the rubber, presto. alive.

Looks like not very good to have a sunroof on your car. If no maintainance or poor maintainance, then water seep in and then become problem liao.

I use the industrial 5 gal type, but this is well good enough to suffice. Once a week, and all will be fine.

TS, They sell this in JB if you need looking into.
