SimplyTWL 1st Gear April 6, 2012 Share April 6, 2012 SC2 is capable of many more things. Options to input other functions into the X-gauge for other requirements! To me, its a very neat and tidy device without having too many gauges on the dashboard. ↡ Advertisement
Karebu 1st Gear April 6, 2012 Share April 6, 2012 (edited) long term use invest in scangauge. personally im using elm327 bluetooth module with my iphone (jailbroken with roqyBT4). the bluetooth key (plug and play) is from ebay, probably around $15. apps are dashcommand and rev - costly from app store, can check/clear codes roqybt4 - about 5 euros for licence i believe it works without any advanced setups with androids. cons: need to setup (connect stuff on your phone) everytime engine on need to unplug everytime you're leaving the car if not it draws a little current 24/7 afaik scangauge will power cut and easy-on so can leave it connected Edited April 6, 2012 by Karebu

I've heard that some people woke up with a flat battery overnight . Where did you purchase the plug ? Dealextreme ? I am using Scantool, and no I do not have any problems with battery being drained. Some points for consideration - My car's battery is in good condition - Scantool has the capability to go into sleep mode which draws much less current then typical cheap china made elm327 dongles. - My car is driven everyday most of the time, longest duration it did not move is about 3 days, but battery is still able to start the car. What i dont understand is why do you need a smartphone to see the guages? Mine is a LCD 2.5" screen velcro-taped to the side of my dashboard so when i start my car, the guages comes in. No need to attached phone and start the software manually.... Hi bro, The torque program on a smartphone do not require you to boot it up manually . When the app, detects AC power from your car , it will wake up from sleep, auto connects to your Ecu via BT. You can configure it to show as many parameters as your phone screen size allows . When your car is off, the app goes to sleep mode and puts your phone into airplane mode awaiting the next power up. Thanks for your explanation But i just find that obd scanner should be just displaying car info on its own so no need put it on a smartphone. Unless you no need receive calls/messages on thAt phone A simple analogy- its just like why people still use gps when there is navphone app on iphone that can use gps without data roaming... Yup u're correct . That's why I'm using it in a unwanted Samsung galaxy phone of mine. Its permanently attached in my car with no Sim card in it and its duty is for android Torque app only. I still got my old scanguage 2 , its working good but the thing about Scanguage is that the display is quite 'boring'. Erm, I use hp navigation, Bluetooth at same time and I still can receive call, sms and watsapp. So there is no much problem in it. ↡ Advertisement
