I just encounter one only yesterday which I commented that it is really stupid and useless. Can someone confirm this if it is the same in SG?

I drove my supervisor's Santa Fe to meet a client and I asked about the handbrake which is button operated. He told me push to release and pull to engage the handbrake. When he told me after you engage the gear to drive, it auto cancel the handbrake. He was so proud of the automation but I ask him what purpose does it serves.

I really wonder if this is the same in SG.

Electronic parking brake, means if the pedal fail.

There is no way to engage the parking brake to slow down car?

Also cannot play tail skid on sandy roads.

But the poka yoke done on the japs are practical. For This Santa Fe, I meant what is the use of auto cancelling when you are suppose to release it in case someone accidentally engage the gears.

This has nothing to do with technology.  It is just plain dumbass parents.

More basic = less headache in terms of maintenance.

More technology = ease of use.  Not everyone want to pay more to get less.

Spare key is with the remote in the bag on the front seat.

Dumb ass driver.

if my key is in the car.. the car cannot be locked. i think most cars should have this feature

E parking brake is released when u press throttle. Not really "cancel".

I believe foot has to be on brake before engage D. Right?

i have no idea how it happens. But it is stupid to leave key fob with maid.

On handbrake, I find it difficult to shift to N when handbrake is not used. Weight of the car is shifted to parking gear.

Many cars w elec handbrake is liddat

Some hv Auto Hold function in addition to elec handbrake. When car comes to a stop or in a jam, it will keep the brakes on so no need to keep foot on brake pedal. When moving off, it will auto disengage. When put to P, then the elec handbrake is auto activated n auto disengages when shift to D.

The P function is lock by shaft which is not reliable for the car if it keep locking this way. Handbrake, Footbrake and those brake button is additional safety features....if we have something that just engage and go, for sure something will happen someday.

We could be the rare breed that rely on hand brake.

In fact, I make sure hand brake is engaged before shifting to P.

Which is what I meant, "what if the father or mother had engage the handbrake while the engine is on, the kid just pull to D mode and the car will just cheong liao". Bear in mind that today the car are not like the olden days when you have to step the clutch and let go slowly to move the car. Auto makes it more dangerous.
