Neutralsg 5th Gear April 3, 2012 Share April 3, 2012 well they tried on the mobile phones right still got idiots using mobile phones while driving I mentioned somewhere that unless draconian laws are fully enforced, it's worthless. Hence, the need for such laws to be enforced without unnecessary compromise or worse, lack of enforcement.
Ghostami 2nd Gear April 3, 2012 Share April 3, 2012 well they tried on the mobile phones right still got idiots using mobile phones while driving You must be joking, how much is a phone compare to a car. Regarding using of handphones w/o earpiece while driving, think the authorities should increase the punishment as well, maybe a $5000 fine plus a short jail term should deter most people. Those who wanna comment on my silly suggestion, well, if we are really that good to begin with, is there a need for all these? Think about it... Know a few friends who use to drink and drive, a few got into some small accident and heng they woke up ever since. I also encourage the authorities to step up on the punishment for those who drink and drive, don't wait till one day something like this happens to you than wake up, that time its too late and I reckon the punishment is the worst a person can have. I agree, I encourage more of those enforcement done recently to catch those who always do that off guard. You don't announce to a thief where you gonna catch him right? Those who complain about the recent measures of catching those who use mobile phones must be those that always do that.
PaiKia-Lee 1st Gear April 3, 2012 Share April 3, 2012 I find it extremely disturbing snd irony. The young driver of the crumpled vios is a safety officer in his line of work. And he himself did not practise safety. This is his decision. Cant blame him, when u drink and drive, your judgement will surely be impaired.

Well, think the Cheng Hu / Authorities don't really care so much lar. Not that I wanna curse them, but sekali one of their Love one kenna hit & run over by a speeding drunken driver, then they will feel the pain of losing somebody dear to them in a needless drunk driving accident. Is it WORTH IT? Prevention is better then cure. If Don't implement and toughen the drink driving punishment law, somebody close to them will eventually get it. Should fine him according to COE category of his car to COE price, since Singaporean all so rich. 1 year imprisonment term is peanuts lar. Sometimes, some things must be a trade off for somethings to be archive. For this instance, that guy gotten a punishment worst than death itself, put yourself in his shoe, he will be living with guilt of killing his own wife due to his moment of rash act. His wife on the other hand might know his been drinking and didn't stop him from driving, so what do you think?
Alim 1st Gear April 3, 2012 Share April 3, 2012 Prevention is better than cure. May detection system like the IU should be compulsory in SG cars. Toyota developing cars that detect drunk driving Toyota Motor Corp. is developing a fail-safe system for cars that detects drunk drivers and automatically shuts the vehicle down if sensors pick up signs of excessive alcohol consumption, a news report said Wednesday. Cars fitted with the detection system will not start if sweat sensors in the driving wheel detect high levels of alcohol in the driver's bloodstream, according to a report carried by the mass-circulation daily, Asahi Shimbun. The system could also kick in if the sensors detect abnormal steering, or if a special camera shows that the driver's pupils are not in focus. The car is then slowed to a halt, the report said. The world's No. 2 automaker hopes to fit cars with the system by the end of 2009, according to the report. Calls to Toyota's headquarters in Nagoya rang unanswered on Wednesday, a public holiday. Nissan Motor Co., another Japanese car manufacturer, has already been experimenting with breathalyzer-like devices that could detect if a driver was drunk. Similar technologies, such as alcohol ignition interlocks, are in use in the U.S. and elsewhere. Concerns over drunk driving have surged in Japan following a series of alcohol-related accidents last year. In August, a drunk driver collided with another vehicle carrying a family of five, plunging them off a bridge and killing three children. The incident prompted stepped-up roadside spot checks by police, who also plan to stiffen penalties for drunken driving. Asiaone report

Unless there is a Mass resentment or protest shown by the public then they will act.

Friend, i am not in the position to say whether he deserved it or whether his wife deserved it. a life is gone now, and he has to suffer the punishment for taking a life away. whether he deserve the punishment or not for me to judge or comment. maybe some would say he should be the going instead of his wife. everyone make mistakes, some get away with it, some don't. i think we should just leave him alone, because he has his whole life to live what he has done. ↡ Advertisement
