Not sure why ever since the authorities announced they intend to implement the Do-Not-Call thingy at the last quarter of next year, I have been bombarded with <ADV>.... SMSes ever since on a daily basis. Many are from property agents and really a damn bl**dy nuisance especially during working hours.

 

They should have enacted this law like ten years ago...

ALMOST every other day, I get a deluge of telephone calls from banking telemarketers urging me to take up the banks' unsecured credit facility, usually with some sweeteners like zero per cent interest for the first few months.

 

As if this is not enough, my mailbox is also filled with mailers from various banks enticing me to sign up for their easy credit, ready credit or whatever name they call their unsecured credit.

 

Typical tactics involve sending a blank cheque addressed to me, coupled with a mailer on zero or low interest rates for the first few months.

 

While the Government has tightened rules for licensed moneylenders, the nature of unsecured credit extended by banks to individuals is very similar to that of the loans extended by licensed moneylenders.

 

The Government should look into the marketing tactics adopted by banks with respect to unsecured credit extended to individuals.

What I do is usually I tell the girl on the line that we can meet at night to discuss about the matter.

Nowadays, I use telemarketers for theraphy .... when they call, I unleash all my frustration on them by being a guai lan jerk.

 

Very proud to say I can make them hang up on me in frustration.

 

Yes, I know telemarketers are just doing a job but my patience already exceeded its limits long ago.

1-2 weeks ago, i guai lan to the tele-marketer.

after handing up the line, 1 mins later someone sms me a nasty message. Obviously is the tele-marketer

 

i immediately flare-up and complain all the way to the head of her dept. so piss with such fxxer.

they even send me a apology letter stating that they will never call me for any promotion again.

 

especially, those china scam toto or lottery operator, the 1st hing i say to them is to go and eat s--t!

Wait you receive phone calls in the middle of the night to ask you go take a pee!

 

Seriously this is getting out of hand.

 

I know people from tele-marketing line will cry bl**dy unfair and that they need to make a living out of these calls/SMSes but this cannot be done at our expense right?

 

Having junk mails and e-mails are already bad enough now plus both unsolicited SMSes and cold calls make it even more irritating.

 

My response to all cold calls : SORRY NOT INTERESTED & just hang up the call w/o waiting for a response.

If their job is to proactively irritate people, then learn to have thick skin.

 

Last time I would just slam the phone too but irritating them back is more fun if you have the time.

 

Usually when they call and ask how is my day, I will reply terrible now that you called.

 

Then I ask them to speak normally because I cannot understand their fake American accent.

 

If you really have time to burn, let them slowly read their script then ask them to repeat.

 

Thing to remember is they read from a script so the more unexpected your reply the better. While they are trying to find the correct reply, you can even kek them to look faster.

 

I might just try speaking in tongues to them one of these days.

For unsecured credit, I will say that I am very happy to get the call - just in time because I just lost my job and need the money. While the telemarketer is searching for a reply, I will hang up.

 

For all other calls, I will say that I am very interested but in the bathroom now, please give me your home phone number and I will call you back later tonight. Also, while they are stunned I will hang up.

the moment hear "ni hao", i press the red button =x

i will ask them to call back next time, then add their number into my Call Blocker app.

 

and the next few days, i received their calls but Call Block will immediately hang the phone up for me after 1 beep (cos i tried blocking my hse phone and test how it works).
