Wubb Clutched March 27, 2012 Author Share March 27, 2012 According to media reports, the woman boarded a SMRT train at Raffles Place on her way home and sat on an empty seat which appeared to be wet. Thinking that the transparent fluid is water, the woman sat on it only to discovered a stinging sensation to her buttocks. The pain got worse and worse and she eventually alighted at Dhoby Ghaut MRT station to check into a lady

Littleknown Clutched March 27, 2012 Share March 27, 2012 Caustic acid is usu found in university labs. Guess who works in labs these days? Who has a vested interest in spreading fear in Singapore? And I wonder in retaliation for what?
2009k Neutral Newbie March 27, 2012 Share March 27, 2012 if conc sulphric acid, how come the seat not melted? how come no one comprain pungent smell? My mistake, can't be concentrated acid; yes seat would have melted... I know liquid glass cutters have acid in them... Laboratories do have acid... Do think these are controlled item to be documented and tracked...
Scion Turbocharged March 27, 2012 Share March 27, 2012 (edited) if conc sulphric acid, how come the seat not melted? how come no one comprain pungent smell? maybe due to this? "Concentrated Sulfuric acid can only be stored in glass, non metal lids, some plastic containers. It will attack anything organic, causing severe burns, the good thing is it will not start a fire but if it goes into contact with a metal it may generate hydrogen gas, an explosion risk. " think MRT seats are made of ABS plastic (acrylonilrile-butadiene-styrene) not sure if sulfuric acid can corrode this plastic anot Edited March 27, 2012 by Scion
