Accident between BMW 5-series & motorcyclist

If it was me driving this junction for the first time.I would also not expect the motorcyclist to suddenly stop 5meters premature from the traffic light pole position.

Usually the stop line is just beside the traffic light pole, and the pedestrians will cross just ahead.

But this junction is special, it stops 5meters earlier.

This could be the main reason why the BMW did not expect to see this motorcycles suddenly stop so 'early' before the traffic light position.

Guess this chiong-amber-light mentality is a killer mentality.

NEVER expect the vehicle in front to chiong the lights even if one has the mentality to chiong. This accident clearly demonstrate the danger of such mentality.

i noticed, in the video, there was a frontal jerked up in the BMW. Did the driver sped up & E-brake which cause this? Looked like the car is trying to "lift" the object in front, in this case the motorcycle's back.

Usually, the e-brake only will cause the car front to nose dive.

Actually this accident was a chain of event...

If truck had not been in lane 2... Speed of lane 2 would be faster n bike would had pass the junction.

At the junction, 2 buses had actually obstruct the beamer view of the traffic light.

There is no way he can tell whether it is green/red due to the height of the buses even thou there are more than 2 traffic lights.

This contribute to the accident.

Most likely the bumper 'ride' over the rear wheel of motorcycle, causing the slight lift-up.

am wondering if the beemer wanted to shift lane cos cannot stop in time, but clearance not enuf....

regardless, the motocyclist must be damn lucky to be alive. 9/10 of such cases, you see Tong Aik [knife][knife]

Does not make sense la. He would do fine to just swerve a bit to his left. How can swing whole car to the second lane and hope to avoid the bike when the bike had stopped on the second lane?

Siow driver.

Not true....if the driver has his basic theory observed, he will be able to stop in time....from the video, he was like less than 1.5 car distance away from the bike.

+ there is an over-hanging traffic light further up which lane 2 should be able to see the light change.

Twincharged

This is why you shouldn't tailgate. No reason why a car can't stop in time. Cars have 4 wheels for grip so should have stopped in time unless he tailgating.

as mentioned, basic...

in theory, if everyone travel at the same pace, pick up speed and braking speed is the same, there would even be jams.

in real life, everyone drive differently hence we have accidents and/or near miss...

I had once almost sideswipe by the vehicle from opposite lane (turning right) as I was momently blinded by trucks behind infront of me...

I did slow down at the junction creating a distance but as this distance is created, speed is slower = more time at danger zone...

if got chance, i see whether I can snap a picture of buses/heavy vehicle while at junctions.

Theory for driving is the same as real life work....

Fully agreed. If driver is observing traffic and basic driving rules of keeping a safe distance and modulating speed when approaching junctions, such accidents could be easily avoided.

i agreed theory v.s. real life can be 1 heaven & 1 earth....

But if the video is shown to TP, what theory do you think TP will tell the driver?

this is what happens when PRC refused to get off the road and wants more compensation instead. she lost her life when next bus comes along and runs over her. she died in the 2nd accident. worth it?

giving the benefit of doubt, the driver's view on the left side traffic light might be blocked by the bendy bus, at the same time, he also did a lane 3 to lane 2 switch.

It might be also too late for him to notice the over-hanging traffic light change when he did the lane switch.

The cause of accident is that the driver fail to stop in time when the traffic light turn red (the biker did not e-brake to stop & he still created a buffer to stop after the solid line) + driver tail-gated the biker.

by book....

ever apply a job from gov?

they can call u up weeks after resume to ask a basic question which is googleable...

ever see accidents and they take the evidence to test lab?

Only if some accidents are too big to cover up then they will do it the proper way...

(otherwise explain y when got accidents, they dont take statement as long as no one is hurt, public property damage etc?)
