13177 Hypersonic March 20, 2012 Share March 20, 2012 Can only hazard guess that since Lexus and Toyota is having the same AD, the AD registered to LTA as Toyota in order to accumulate more sales. No wonder toyota sales always on top 5. But lexus really can sell so well? ↡ Advertisement
The_Bear Turbocharged March 20, 2012 Share March 20, 2012 Id rather see more contis as b&b cf jap econoboxes.... Sorry to sound elitist but therr... Skoda got 5, you know....
Tohto Hypersonic March 20, 2012 Share March 20, 2012 I am predicting that Merc and BMW would fight it out for no. 1 and 2 ..... C180K with CAT A COE is a popular choice .... but the new F30 will give Merc a run for the money .... F30 price is much higher than C180k. Even the 320i is selling at around $215k. While C180k is around $170k before discount. Unless there is a F30 318i using the 1.6L turbo engine from 118i.
Tohto Hypersonic March 20, 2012 Share March 20, 2012 I agree. Toyota and Lexus should be completely separated. In fact when you buy a Lexus now, the log card will state 'Toyota Lexus LS 600h' etc. Sian man Maybe is how Borneo Motor had registered the brand Lexus at LTA (or call ROV last time) when they bring in the LS400 donkey years ago. Vhtfhwlego Supercharged March 20, 2012 Share March 20, 2012 There is no such make called lexus when the car is registered, lexus name falls under the model instead of the make. And the name of the make is called toyota. Also dont know why? because 10 years ago, 1 jr staff of LTA drove the GS300 while his boss drove the corolla... jr staff boost around in LTA office saying "I am driving a lexus!".... His boss cannot take the emotions stress that jr staff driving bigger car than him had since boycott/downgrade lexus to Toyota.. Nowadays, no one dare to talk about infinity in the office.... W210k 1st Gear March 20, 2012 Share March 20, 2012 I read it as....more people are richer. That is a very good sign indeed! The country and it's people have prospered and benefitted from the govt's foresight, after 25 years of nation building.
W210k 1st Gear March 20, 2012 Share March 20, 2012 (edited) I think the mass market ADs can only find ways to reduce their OMVs to stay afloat, be it legal or illegal ways. Take Toyota for example. The current model Camry had an OMV of 30k back then when it first launched in 2006. Currently, a similar model is at a low 20s. Didn't know the Camry's OMV has dropped so low! $20K+ only?? But the Thai baht is not really depressed right now, is it? In spite of the Euro's decline, the C180K's OMV is still a strong $31K+. At a net net price of $150K (post-negotiated) in Feb, no wonder C&C can sell (including other models) up to 500 Mercs a month!! With the current $57K Cat A COE, C&C's assessed gross margin is only a mere $20K from selling each C180K! Edited March 20, 2012 by W210k

W210k 1st Gear March 20, 2012 Share March 20, 2012 For that matter, BMW, Mini and Rolls-Royce can also be under 'BMW' if you are talking about combining! So is Audi, VW and Skoda ... all VW AG. Where do you stop?

But SGeans still, somehow, very much prefer sedans to hatchbacks. Edited March 20, 2012 by W210k

I realised this too.. it seems that cars made in thailand have an OMV similar of those made in japan. Does not make sense right? Also the case of euro dropping but OMV still high that you mentioned. So in other words, it seems like the location of manufacture of cars has no bearing on the OMV/price to the end users here.
Kangadrool Supersonic March 20, 2012 Share March 20, 2012 Location of manufacture (at cheaper site) has no bearing on the OMV as manufacturer may decide to sell to the dealer at the same price as one manufactured in home country. The manufacturer simply enjoys higher profit margins.
