:D If you see the mileage on my car, you'll be surprised! Come to think of it, I can become taxi driver already! :D

I rather think you can be a promoter for Lancer and Vios lah. [laugh] Hands on experience who can vouch their reliability and durability for its value for $$$ which is probably cheaper than taxi rides based on your usage. [thumbsup]

How much is your mileage?

Have you done your second timing belt change?

Wish I could still say second bro.. Another 15k km it will be the fourth! Actually when I first bought the car 2nd hand, the mileage was 27k km. I changed it at 60k km(self explanatory since its 2nd hand) then went on to change at 135k km, then another at slightly 210k km. At the same time, due to my v.v.v high usage, I changed my clutch, PS pumps, Brakes pumps Rad hoses, and other assemblies (mountings etc), and also did a top overhaul. and also changed to a new odo since the last one broke and became cranky. now my mileage on the new odo is 74k km. Left my car in the workshop for a wk plus minus and basically my car is like new! Sort of...

The 4G18 engine is a workhorse and very sturdy indeed. :D

Lancer GLX

Engine Cap:1584 cc

Power: 106Bhp @ 6000rpm

Torque:142Nm @ 2750rpm

Type:Sedan

Euro NCAP:Not Tested

Vios

Engine Cap:1497 cc

Power: 109Bhp @ 6000rpm

Torque:142Nm @ 4200rpm

Type:Sedan

NCAP Rating:5

Seems like vios is putting out very little more power then a Lancer and having the same TQ, But lancer TQ seems to comes in earlier,

May be due to the Toyota VVTi features thats why it can produce slightly more power yet save more petrol

The lancer's torque comes in alot earlier. But not sure if the lancer is faster cuz i think the vios is lighter right?

Yes the Vios weights lesser. On paper the 2006 vios kerb weight is abt 940kg(MT) 970kg(AT) and lancer 1115kg(MT) 1140kg(AT)

I drove both manual also, seems like vios pick-up is power and smooth as compared to lancer. But the auto lancer seems better than manual.

I think Pocus bro has already witten a great summary point for both the car, Just focus on what you need from the car, be it power, FC, space, Comfort, maintenance or stability, Both are great point a to point b car for small size family. [;)]

I think the last thing you would want to find out is the safety of both cars. Which may be an inportant point to consider.

Neutral Newbie

Both cars are great B&B cars for daily pt A to pt B. Besides the usual specs, guess it boils down to the price and paper value..

I will choose the lancer. I had seen both cars in accidents before and Vios always turned out worse. Could be due to the design that engine will go under the car to protect the driver and front passenger.

as a lancer driver, I will be a bit biased.

however the appearance of pre-face lift Vios is doesnt really appeal to me. pretty small interior and exterior. looks abit uncle to me too..

lancer exterior is better and looks more sporty with simple stuffs like spoiler etc.

performance wise - think toyota is obviously better but lancer is not far behind.

to drive it for another 2-3 years, then you may need to factor in future changes to family setup etc.. that's when the space requirements becomes more necessary etc...
