Oh thanks... I'm using it for Internet TV traffic more than that kinda download though..

this kind no issues.

That's why i said only people using P2P stuff need to go in with eyes open.

anyway personally i won't use M1 for anything that is not guaranteed to be throttle-free.

From what i read on user experiences in HWZ, they are one of the worst culprits on badnwidth throttling.

Their promotional material mentioned no throttling wor... That was why I signed up 1Gbps... Else I would have gone for their 200mb..

Can use your old router as repeater. Google search you will find answer on how to set up repeater using old router.

There are many youtube that teach step by step on how to extend wifi range using old router. This is one example. So there is no harm trying this weekend to see whether it will work not. Just need about 30 minutes of your time.

good stuff!!!!

thanks alot!

if everyone take out their old router to extend range

soon we will have super big wifi clusters everywhere [laugh]

Dont think it can be done. As its still a router. If want to extend with more then 2 router have to get a repeater. A normal router will not be able to work.

if u use a wifi repeater, the theoretical bandwidth is halved.

Wireless-N speed is about 54mbps, so ur wireless-N router on a repeater mode means it can only transmit about 27mbps theoretical max.

If u just want some coverage to do some surfing it might be ok. But for anything intensive like streaming, don't bother with repeaters.

better to get a good router position in the central part of your house.

U can use a router to still be the router then get a lan Cable connecting it to another router with a powerful wifi strength to be the wireless access point.

mustank, what's your current router?

Thanks, maybe thats why when I read a lot of article on the router as repeater , which if want to extend further or need many to extend the range have to get a repeater.

With wifi being something most of us can't live without now within our own homes, it's always good to have a LAN point in every room so that u can have the option of putting your wireless access point in a central location, rather than near the tv console or the ONT.
