NEL train service between Dhoby Ghaut and HarbourFront stations disrupted

Posted: 15 March 2012 0821 hrs

SINGAPORE: The North East Line train service between Dhoby Ghaut and HarbourFront stations is unavailable due to a power supply problem in the tunnel at Outram Park Station.

A statement from SBS Transit on Thursday says it is estimated that service at the affected stretch will not be available for about six hours.

SBS Transit added that free bus services will be provided at designated bus stops at the affected stations. The free bus shuttle service has also been activated.

Was affected by this disruption today.

Noticed the stark difference between the 2 companies.

From Sengkang station, hardly any announcement/notice (throughout my journey - NONE!). Only message in red on the screen but could hardly see the words as the fonts are too small!

Once I stepped onto the circle line (SMRT), first thing to greet me is the announcement, followed by sign boards. On the EW line, more announcements and signboards saying the NEL partially down even onboard the train.

Think SMRT have learnt their lesson!

you sure or not, got people say there were announcements inside the train and at every station about shuttle bus services. Seems better managed

Anyway :)

Latest Update:

Mr Lui is at Dhoby Ghaut station to assess the situation. He said that he had taken the North South Line to Dhoby Ghaut station and there were announcements made informing commuters of the disruption on the North East Line.

Compare to:

From Sengkang station, hardly any announcement/notice (throughout my journey - NONE!). Only message in red on the screen but could hardly see the words as the fonts are too small!

So which is which?
