Do you follow your GPS all the time.

Many a time I dont. Some suggested directions are idiotic. Like from Tampines to Bartley Road East filtering left to Airport Road and turning right to KPE. At the junction with Airport Rd, my GPS tells me to turn left towards Eunos Link and make a U turn towards KPE.

I follow GPS only I do not know the route well.

Likewise. Only going to unfamiliar places, will follow gps direction.

the problem with my GPS is that you can choose either shortest route or nearest highway.

shortest route setting has shorter distance but need to meet more traffic lights.

highway setting has longer distance but you will reach your destination earlier but one bad point for highway setting, the GPS will turn here and there until it found a highway.

i think using GPS is when you have totally no clue how to get there.

agreed..i only use it when i'm not familiar with the location..sometimes the routing can be rather idiotic..asking me to make additional turnings

Never own a gps and always kept a manual until iPhone 3 came.

Sometime got lost with gps and still depend on manual.

Then... No longer work in sales... And somehow age caught up, cannot remember roads that well anymore.

Use iPhone 4s to navigate for places deems unknown.

Zoom in to street view and once been the street view, just drive by instinct.

Hypersonic

The purpose of a GPS is to bring you from point A to point B. It doesn't always bring you on YOUR desired route.

I think some of the newer GPS got function that can learn the person driving habits and calculate route base on that. However if the person drive to the route that the GPS does not have any information, GPS will calculate base on , shorter distance, faster route or avoid toll function.

i bought GPS just to play abit with gadget and for use if i'm in JB or malaysia

but in sg, i set to shortest route.

sometimes giving "wrong info"

eg at PIE from jurong (towards changi direction)

gps instruct to exit PIE at clementi ave 6 and then re-enter highway back into PIE

just cos it is "shorter" route

just stick to PIE, you can tell above (even before GPS can re-calculate route if off route)

anyway, dont have to follow exactly wat GPS suggest.

use as guide and in sg sure wont lost, only go extra distance

most important reach destination safely.
