Seems like TP really do something cause they even send me an email for approval to testify the driver if bring up to court. You are right to report this incident of reckless driving to TP, regardless of whether the driver is a Singaporean or US Forces staff. That driver is definitely very familiar with the roads there at Clementi Avenue 6; someone unfamiliar will keep to the left of the 2 lanes on the right so as not to miss filtering left to join AYE (City). There is a stretch of less than 100m from the exit of the vehicular underpass where that grey car came from to the split where the reckless cutting left occurred (entry slip road to AYE on the left and straight to Pandan Flyover on the right). Vehicles from the ground level (2 lanes on the left) which want to go to Pandan Flyover, like you did, should keep to second lane from left, whilst those emerging from underpass wanting to join AYE (City) should be on second lane from right, like that PA-plate mini-bus. They should already have signalled right and left respectively, look at their wing mirrors and alternately crossover (like alternating at merger lane). The grey car driver should have driven behind the mini-bus and depending on whether he was ahead or behind you, criss-cross smoothly and safely. There is a blue sign "CITY KEEP LEFT" on the centre divider on the way up from the underpass. So that car should not be on right-most lane where traffic should only go straight (shown clear by the white arrows). That reckless driver is another "me first", "highway code does not apply to me, only to others", " I can drive whatever way I wish because there is no TP?LTA officers to catch me" motorist. Very likely he is habitually driving like that everyday and everywhere. He did not think that his dangerous act (and his car number plate) will be captured on video!! Without the video recording, he can easily deny he was there at that time, now he cannot. What he did was very dangerous. Suppose that mini-bus was carrrying young children to kindergarten or school (and there was another vehicle on its left), its driver might have suddenly swerved left too much in order to avoid collision with that grey car. The result might have been a collision with that left side vehicle and possibly causing the mini-van to overturn (like happened very recently at Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3 & 8 junction). Perhaps serious injuries or fatalities may result. Worst part is that reckless driver will race away scot-free and vehicle undamaged; he will not take responsibility for causing a serious accident. Let's make our roads safer for ourselves and other responsible road-users by reporting such reckless drivers to TP, especially when we have unrefutable video recording available. No need to pity such "terrorists"; they deserve to be penalised (if warranted by driving ban) by TP.
Gabrielfrancisteo Neutral Newbie March 8, 2012 Share March 8, 2012 US Forces???? Dun think our tp will do anything to piss them off... If they do, most prob, you will receive a call, asking if you would like to be witness or not, then tell you pending investigation. By the time investigation over, vehicle scrape, driver went back to us.
Neutralsg 5th Gear March 8, 2012 Share March 8, 2012 Hi Bro, It's nice to see drivers like you actively promoting road safety and safe driving. IMO, there should be more regular advert on TV and print media to remind road users to do their part to keep our roads safe. It would also be good for MPs to ask the Home Affairs to produce statistics and have them published on how many drivers had been banned to drive the message to those speedsters, reckless, dangerous and inconsiderate drivers to cherish their driving licence by being more responsible, considerate and safer drivers. Hope reports/petitions to TP, LTA and contributions to this forum and that of other car forums will relentlessly encourage safe and considerate driving for the sake of greater safety on our roads. Have a nice and weekend!

Firstly, the driver may not be a US (Armed) Forces personnel, maybe he is a Singaporean. Secondly, I do not think US Forces personnel have same immunity accorded to diplomatic staff of ambassies/high commisions. We should wait for TS to share with us when the outcome is known. More important, we should not be afraid to do our part to weed out dangerous drivers/motorcyclists from our roads, because we may never know when we or our loved ones and friends are in their vicinity and be put at risk by them.
