SimonTan 2nd Gear March 8, 2012 Share March 8, 2012 The part about needing to keep IU charged up for the internal battery may not be true. I have my super four, which I seldom ride. The bike battery is disconnected when I am not riding to prevent draining. And my IU still works when I hook up the battery to ride. ↡ Advertisement
Nzy Twincharged March 8, 2012 Share March 8, 2012 after a certain speed, the camera cannot catch coz its too fast Of course. But how often can you travel at that speed? Or is it even possible? Saw on mythbusters. If I did not remember wrongly need at least 170mph. Which is almost 300km/h. Do you think you'll be doing that speed at the ERP gantry? Most cars can't do that anyway. And if you are at that speed I think the ERP fine is the least of your worries already.

Nzy Twincharged March 9, 2012 Share March 9, 2012 for speed camera i dunno how fast. but for erp camera, its 180km/h http://www.mhi.co.jp/en/products/detail/el...ing_system.html Even then 180km/h is still way faster than the speed limit. I'd rather get the fine for not having IU when passing the gantry than to travel above 180km/h to avoid it detecting me. lol.
Nzy Twincharged March 9, 2012 Share March 9, 2012 Q: I already have an IU installed in my car. Can I still choose to be under the fixed ERP fees scheme? A: Yes. However, you must first have the IU removed or de-commissioned. This must be done at any IU inspection centre in Singapore. Once the IU is de-commissioned, you will automatically come under fixed ERP fees scheme. The IU inspection centres charge a service fee to remove an IU. Seems like if you want to remove it you can. Then just go by the fixed ERP fees.

Highmount Clutched March 9, 2012 Share March 9, 2012 2) You cannot suka suka "take out" the IU and plug it in as and when you like. There is a battery in it that needs to have power to keep the memory. If you leave it unpowered too long it wll lose its settings and you cannot reset this back. It has to be replaced. The ones you get at customs for Malaysia cars have internal battery supply and no need to plug in, maybe that is an option if you can get it. Yes, u can suka2 unplug the IU & plug it in when u need it. I use to do this when I was riding. Most of the time my IU is unplug & kept elsewhere (out of sight). I got the cable modified to sumthin like this ( http://image.made-in-china.com/2f0j00SsDan...ble-AV-203-.jpg ). I dun work in CBD, so most of the time my IU was unplug. Wonder if it means you enter then $5 and you can go out and come in many times or each time you go out must pay $5 again to enter.

SimonTan 2nd Gear March 11, 2012 Share March 11, 2012 Yes the IU belongs to you. You and take it out before you scrap the car. It's just like a HP, it's transferable. You have to tell LTA the IU number to link to your car should you buy from second hand IU.

Maybe you can go to LTA website and look at their FAQ. They do have the answer to how you can remove your IU and change to this fixed ERP rate. Seems like can pay together with phone bill.
