Yattokame 4th Gear March 7, 2012 Share March 7, 2012 I don't like how the grand picasso looks but I bought it the day we had breakfast at IKEA and popped over just for a look. small engine, turbo charged, semi-auto, LOADS of storage space, full panoramic roof, headroom, leg room, thigh support.... and low price. mai tu liao. anyway will change it once kids are older. ↡ Advertisement
Emile12345 Neutral Newbie March 7, 2012 Share March 7, 2012 It really depends on the individual. Other than looks, a lot of factors are taken into consideration, such as price, value, specs, branding etc. If it is priced reasonably, a lot will not mind the looks. You see a lot of men with ugly women on the streets and vice versa. So looks are not everything. Don't quote "beauty lies in the eye of the beholder" because there is obviously a benchmark for good looking women and men. In bed, they just switch off the lights and everything is well and good! For me, I can live with an ugly car, but definately not an ugly woman!
13177 Hypersonic March 7, 2012 Share March 7, 2012 You sit in it, you don't see how ugly your car is. You only see it as you walk towards it to get onto it, and you can choose not to look back after you're done parking it. Even you purposely dont want to see your car, but afterall you will still see your car and also you might also get comments from people around you. IDrago 3rd Gear March 7, 2012 Share March 7, 2012 You are shopping around for a car. There is this particular model that suits your budget and needs. Specifications are exactly what you wanted. Only problem is that you don't like the exterior design. It is either too plain or ugly. Would you buy? For me, it's the Skoda Superb. The car ticks all the right boxes. Full specs, good size, good engine and priced sensibly. But in my opinion, inconceivably ugly. So what would you do? The exterior appeal is very important to me and it ranks among the top factors when I choose my ride. ugly cars? No thanks!!

Tohto Hypersonic March 7, 2012 Share March 7, 2012 (edited) Agree that the Skoda Superb is a very good, interior is nice and space is HUGE. Too bad the backside of the car spoil the look. Front is still OK to me. The Combi version look much better. Why you ask this since you are now enjoying your Octava Combi VRS, which is good Edited March 7, 2012 by Tohto
Pocus Turbocharged March 7, 2012 Share March 7, 2012 I almost did. My first car almost become the Suzuki Ignis Sport (the predecessor of the Swift Sport). It's not very ugly that time but it's boxy and looked dated even by the standard then. But with that price, a low kerb weight and good power-weight ratio, it's an ideal "poor man's hothatch" during those days....But alas it was discontinue when I shopped and left the colors I don't want...so I let it go... Yattokame 4th Gear March 7, 2012 Share March 7, 2012 come to think of it, the lamborghini gallardo is a darn good looking car but the interior somehow doesn't have the sense of occassion like a Ferrari. It looks really.... like a B&B audi. same goes for the R8 too.

The_Bear Turbocharged March 7, 2012 Author Share March 7, 2012 i think most people prefer a car to look nice than ugly. So choosing a not-so-good-looking car is more a matter of "no choice" rather than "it doesn't matter"... ...and I have to agree with you that Skodas tend to fit into that category... Actually, the Octavia is quite ok. I got the vRS. But for the same price there and about, I could have bought the Superb with more features and bigger but it as ugly. The_Bear Turbocharged March 7, 2012 Author Share March 7, 2012 "Ugly", "not so good looking" all depends on the individual. Except very few cars which are well accepted as "ugly" by most, other controversial ones fall either like or hate. In my case, except the present one, all other cars I owned were accepted by some and hated by some for their look. I never cared or bothered on others opinion, I liked those cars, I bought them. The typical syndrome in our country is if it is expensive car, no one dares to talk if it is ugly. In my opinion, Porsche 911 is ugly, well most of us would not dare to say so, where as we go after all Jap or Korean cars because they are cheaper??!! strange behaviour!! Ugly here refers to ugly to you, the buyer. Not what others think about it. It is quite strange how a prestigious badge can have an halo effect on a bad design. 13177 Hypersonic March 7, 2012 Share March 7, 2012 I still cant pick up girls even after I bling the rims..... The previous gen of Stream, maybe it is not because of the design, but maybe most girls like 2 door car instead of a MPV.
