Hi,

My car used to have frequent slight "cluck" "cluck" sound whenever i parked or turned in my multi storey carpark.

It was due to my steering coupling. I got it done at Cityauto and i remembered it cost me about $150.00 or $160.00. You can ask them for quotation.

By the way, I'm not related to that company.

Regards

hey, i had a nissan latio too. always this problem.

must not turn the steering till the end, as it will create and knock knock sound, and if you keep doing it it will worsen.

I have owned Latio since 2006, the coupling sound was discovered right at the beginning, it wasn't that loud initially, somehow after 2 failed attempt to get them fixed bcos the TA cannot agree to the sound that was caused was malfunction and deemed it to be normal.

Till date, I have more or less get use to it, though at times it still bugs me with the irritatiing 'clock clock' sound when I turn the steering wheel. [:/]

I assume your Latio runs on an electric power steering system. If it is a rattling/knocking sound when yr vehicle is running on

a bumpy irregular road, the noise is caused by the teeth of the worm and worm wheel gears colliding. The noise is more pronounced when the steering is turned especially on a rough path of road. Nissan is aware of this problem. They sometimes scratch their heads and pretend because it ain't cheap to hv the steering system replaced. If your warranty runs out, it will cost you more than a grand.
