The ignition system, like the ignition coil most likely faulty. Incorrect viscousity engine oil rarely the cause.

Most likely it's battery problem, if you are free just drop by our warehouse, we have a CCA battery tester that can diagnose if it's really the battery problem or something else. If not, just drop by any battery shop or tire shop, they will have the machine to test your battery condition.

It must be fuel-related problem. It's been known vapor can form in fuel line when it gets very hot and this vapor blocks the fuel from igniting. You can solve it by wrapping the fuel line with heatshield where it's exposed to heat the most.

Is your ride BMW 3 serial? My friend bimmer had this problem on and off too. Replace the 2 years old battery, ignition coil and starter motor but still can't solve the problem. The workshop also can't identify the problem. Eventually he sold the car.

8.5 yr old Matrix. Still bearable for me, will go check the battery.

just guessing - one of those sensors may be off: 02 sensor, exhaust gas recirculation valve, idle air control valve etc. from what I've read (about electronic control systems) they seem to do badly when things warm up.

of course don't discount everything suggested above.
