I have never tried the rest though I do remember my parents buying the Rex Cinema curry puffs!

Nowadays, I will buy Tip Top curry puffs from AMK if I am around the area though parking is an issue! Try the beef rendang curry puff ... sedap!

duno why i can't eat anything from old chang kee, unless no choice.

I stopped patronizing 老曾记 back in 2009 when I felt the taste changed..later on discovered it obtained halal status which very much explained why it sucked..nowadays I go for the real McCoy - empanada from Spanish restaurants or eateries

I think the issue is not really the price, more of the taste, quality, portion and originality. Those hawker stalls are selling at about $1.30 per piece.

Those were the days when its the old man frying em and making em on the spot.

i rem buying old chang kee curry puffs during its day
at a small little stall at coffee shop opp Rex cinema
when i was a boy

at that day it was 60-70cts, handmade and good...

Nowaday seldom eat their curry puff, original taste is gone

will get sore throat. [bigcry] Hot air very big as per Chinese saying.

Enjoy while it's hot....

Though it is not a necessity, it's good to enjoy once awhile to satisfy one's craving :))

I prefer OCK over Tip Top (the one sold in raffles place MRT).

I've never tasted the original Tip Top (before it was sold off) so I can't say much about that but the current tip top doesn't taste nice to me at all.

I ate at wangwang currypuff at OLD Airport hawker centre. Near the claypot rice, middle row.

not bad comparing to OCK.

Maybe they use ba yu (pork oil)

Ic. That explain why I felt the taste changed. I just stop buying curry puff from them without knowing they changed to halal. And to side track a bit, it's not just old Chang kee, even restaurants like Seoul garden and Sakura at Punggol marina I have stop patronising because the food change liao and no longer taste as good because of halal status.
