yes it has been his dream to own a limousine and the closest and most affordable till date are these two.

It is his dream & his $$. Rem that it is not an easy car to drive at that age especially in the city.

I own a long car before & i knows.

Even now, i m looking for a small car with big engine even though i m my physical fitness is above average.

Hi all,

story is, my uncle struck 4D (quite a big amt) and he would like to pamper himself for a couple of years before he retires.

He wants to use 100k for a luxury car, and the 730Li and S280 are on his list. He is unwilling to fork out more for the new models. That is also the reason some of u seen my post about servicing mercedes.

typical questions

1) which is less problematic?

2) which one costs less to maintain?

3) what to look out for in each car (eg airmatic for the S class)?

4) I am guessing S280L is a long wheelbase version of the S280 so it should have significantly more space at the back?

I'm clueless when it comes to such cars. Thanx :)

I was gonna propose Panamera until I saw looking for 2nd hand.... [laugh]

yeah that's his initial preference and also what most people recommended.

looking at it.................he has decided on one of these two.............no need to think is both will have high maintenance............but i know of ppl driving both..............and S class break down less often than 730...........

so go for S280...........

I am partial towards S280. When it comes to suspension, nothing beats the luxury feel of a Merc. Once a person owned a Merc, it's quite hard for them to like another car. At least that's what I am told. Even taxi uncles who drives a Merc cab says the same thing.

If you are comparing S500 and 750i, toss a coin to decide, but between S280 and 730i, it has to be the latter. In the US, the smallest 7 series is a 740i and S class a S350.
