Windwaver Turbocharged February 28, 2012 Share February 28, 2012 Critical Illness as we all know can bankrupt families. Do you guys have any CI coverage? If yes, to what age and what kind of coverage? I'm currently reviewing my plan, does it makes sense to extend coverage to 99 or 100 years? Or just cover till 60 then after that rely on MediShield? ↡ Advertisement

Matchy Neutral Newbie February 29, 2012 Share February 29, 2012 No exactly but there are two camps with regards to CI coverage, so posting here to see if there're any experts well, i am an agent myself but i never cover for early critical illness(able to contain)...but CI yes.... the simple reason is that the financial burden to bear is too much if the CI drag outside hospitals (kidney dialysis, stroke etc). For those contained in hospitals like cancer or heart attack, the basic medishield upgrade with private insurance company with rider (cover 100%) will be sufficient... even for those covered under coy insurance, if u contract CI, they might terminate you and hence u lose your coverage as well... just my honest opinion

Windwaver, I presume you also have taken up hospitalisation insurance? Very very important. And that is from me, a very anti-insurance person. Sometimes the best surgeon for a certain illness is in private practice and the cost of that procedure and hospital stay will wipe one's fortune out in a matter of weeks. I agree in the event if CI coverage under a company is lost due to termination, retrenchment, etc that can really be heavy on the pocket. Now, there's 2 camps of thought even on that matter. One camp is in support of getting CI, the other compares between paying for CI and using that money to invest for own CI expenditure. Having said that, what is your recommendation for duration of CI coverage? Some early plans only cover till age 60. Now there are plans that go all the way to 100. For people with old plans (cover till 60 only), what is your recommendation to extend CI coverage to say beyond 80 years old?

As for CI till 60 and using hospital insurance to cover in the event if company don't cover or loss of job, how does that work out? Gearoil 1st Gear February 29, 2012 Share February 29, 2012 From my observation from friends and relatives 1. Have money and willing to spend: probability of recovering is higher..that's what you think..doctors now don't even know what cause many illness let alone making you recover! 2. Have money but not willing to spend: probability of recovering is lower..if what doctors don't know and can't cure anyway what is the difference of them helping you recover iregardless whether you have money or not except to give it to the doctor for hopes! 3. No money and unable to spend: probability of recovering is lower No money die ..got money die...die faster less suffering, there is NO recovering anyway! Conlusion: I want to have a healthy longer life span. Yes CI is important to me due to logic S/N1 A false belief that had imprinted onto your mindset without knwoing the real truth only serve to enrich the sly and cunning and deplete the fool.. Hi Cheepo, I do agree with you. However, may I know what age do your CI cover you to? I guess it only make sense to cover oneself to beyond 80 in Singapore. If that's the case, I'm very interested to know what sort of plans do that. Also the alternative to people having existing CI plans that cover till 60 only that wants to extend it beyond 80. The 3Ms can only cover when one is in hospital, beyond that, it's either covered by company or your own CI e.g. expensive medications, etc. That's why I'm concern with CI.
