Is it possible to locate car from its 4 numbers and colour?

My car was badly damaged by a car while parked by the roadside (hit and run). Do you think the police or insurance will be able to track down the car owner? My repair bill comes to over $4K but fortunately mostly paid by insurance. Still have to pay a lot for the excess.

Any similar experience from others?

The number is 5710, white car.

You can try to do a "brute force" check starting from SFA5710? The last letter can be calculated.

Then, website should show the colour of the car.

Just a suggestion you can try.

Maybe a seasoned punter? Only remember the 4D =)

Don't wish to divulge too much info here in case that owner of the car is reading this. Just hope police & Insurance will act on my case soon.

I got the number from a shop front camera/eyewitness.

Lady with the child in the car, if you are reading this, just to let you know that hit and run is not just an incident to be settled amicably like in a typical knock or bang, but it is now something very serious. Don't try to drive to JB for the repairs either, the officer at the checkpoint routinely question the owner of any car that is damaged. Please set a good example for your child who witnessed everything!

The shop camera only show the digits and missed the alphabets? Does it shows the car model and make?

I would urge you to make a report and claim first before the lady make a claim on your car.

Lucky you got a shop front camera. Then this kinda is it consider a criminal case? or just accidental?

Not sure. The policeman only told me that I will have to wait for the investigation by traffic police.

did you report to polis or claim from insurance? My insurance advisor told me to inform them the moment the polis identify the owner. They will them claim from the culprit's insurance and refund me fully then excess I paid.
