Our car is for our own use (normally families)unlike Taxi is for rental and carrying Public NOT the Company Management(which is the Decision maker) I rather to be kaisu to make sure my car is to be equipped with MAX safety above all within my own means sobe a wise decision maker just MHO
Threeleggedman 3rd Gear August 8, 2013 Share August 8, 2013 Was on SV308 for 1 year plus. Would say it's a decent tyre except it will get noisy after 10k. Good for daily commute. Gd tyre on dry and wet as grooves were well designed. Only gripe is noise

Most of the time: Uncivilised driving Been using since 2011. Your money your Decision. To each of its own. Bro, your review very funny... Any tyre on dry roads, driving on straight roads, would be able to make it... I think even bald tyre also can.. Bald tyre got better contact even on dry hot road surface.. Only factor is whether car setup can handle.
Petrolheadsg 1st Gear September 2, 2013 Share September 2, 2013 Things do change over time. I remember my first Korean car 20 years ago was the worst thing on the road. Today, Korean cars are as good as Japanese cars and offer probably even better value and technology. Heck, even Japanese cars long ago were "tin can" cars with shoddy quality. China started out as the factory to the world but they are quickly becoming more than that as they start to advance and do R&D to develop their own brands. fyi Westlake Drift team using Westlake tyres won D1 Thailand earlier this year and just won Formula Drift Msia over the weekend. $ aside, these race cars dont use just any tyre to race, its gotta have superior grip both in wet and dry if they want to have any chance of being competitive much less winning! Riceracer Clutched September 11, 2013 Share September 11, 2013 Bought a used car with SV308 fitted on it. It was very new from the date of manufacture and probably less than 1000km on it. The tyre noise was so loud I thought the car had worn out wheel bearings. Squeal like a pig without even pushing the car hard on corners. It's probably the worst passenger car tyre I have ever experienced to date. I went to a tyre shop trying to trade in for another set of tyre. Tyre shop wouldn't even want to take in them. Bought a set of Michelin XM2 eventually and the difference was night and day in term of grip and noise. Of course some drivers will have no complain because they drive so conservative even lorry cross ply tyres also make no difference to them.
Kurty Supercharged September 20, 2013 Share September 20, 2013 like to ask about tire size: if existing i'm on 205/50/17, stock is 205/55/16. if i were to change to 215/55/17, the reading that i got was: that it exceed diameter variance by 5.76%... while speed variance 5.45% too fast the car is already very very low for me despite being on at 50 profile due to the sport lowered spring. hence i thought of increasing the profile by a little, so exiting the car, would be much easier... my dilemma is: - i cannot go lower than 50, the car will touch the floor.. - or i lan lan, stick back to 205/50/17 - or i don't give a damn on what diameter and speed variance.. just whack on 215/55/17... please help.. KaKiLang 4th Gear September 20, 2013 Share September 20, 2013 as low as this???? Cant clear a standard Ciggy pack. Pump higher pressure, on 17x40x205. Wanted to go 50 but will hit the wheel well and whats the point when you already lose all comfort. Thats alot of diff from 205 to 215 x 4wheels. Sinari Neutral Newbie March 18, 2014 Share March 18, 2014 As a user of Westlake SV308 205/50r16 on a 1500cc Suzuki Swift for the past 2.5 years, i think i qualify to give a review. I bought it at $90 per pc. 1. good drip whether in both dry and wet conditions. 2. Takes corners very well. Stable and steady. 3. Safe and reliable. Doesn't skid and very seldom did the EBS gets activated. 3. The downside is that it is quite noisy but what else can you expect at this price? Bottomline: Want cheap and good tyres? go for this. If got budget, then skip this.

Rule of thumb for choosing quiet tyres is to look for less aggressive thread pattern, the SV308 is quite aggressive. Also, the SV308 is single directional vs your A2 that is bidirectional. Bidirectional types can be cross rotated, while single directional ones can only be rotated front to back if they are not staggered. Westlake has an SA07 that has less aggressive thread pattern and may be bidirectional but I am not sure. Just try it, if you do not like it you can always go back to A2. At least you tried and know that it does not work for you - Status Quo = Being Left Behind. ↡ Advertisement
