13177 Hypersonic March 28, 2016 Share March 28, 2016 That manager left already. A few who replaced him have the same doing. Coming from the same country, South Asian. Left but replaced by the people from same country? No wonder the culture cannot be changed. ↡ Advertisement
13177 Hypersonic March 28, 2016 Share March 28, 2016 The article suggests that former CEO Saw under invested in maintenance. Why still blame her? Kuek has been with SMRT since 2012 and that's nearly 4 years. So to say 4 years not enough to invest more in maintenance? Utter rubbish. Didn't know that the current ceo already been with smrt for 4 years liao? And yet he didn't seems to show any improvement and progress in smrt? Delays/breakdown still the same as before! But whether the current ceo able to perform or not, create a mess or not, eventually he is still able to move on with a better prospect, salary and job after his tenure in smrt, and it doesn't affect his life at all. But the lower level in smrt and commuters still continue to suffer.

Kuek has been with SMRT since 2012 and that's nearly 4 years. So to say 4 years not enough to invest more in maintenance? Utter rubbish. I wrote about SMRT company culture earlier in this thread asking why Desmond Kuek refers to operating hours as "revenue hours" and if that was indicative of the company culture. Someone rebutted me saying that it could have been passed down from Saw's days and it is very hard for Desmond to change it if all the old staff are using it. I think very difficult to change company culture. I know of a company that has tear report culture. If the manager not happy with your report, he will physically tear the report into half or tear the pages out and throw it into the bin. Then shout at you till the whole office can hear what you did wrong. After 10yrs, change of manager/directors a few times, I still hear the same thing happening at that company. Employee turnover rate pretty high over there. Change manager is one thing. If top management doesn't step in to let people know that they can't do such things, then it won't stop la. All I can say is Desmond is just a passing visitor at SMRT. Sit there, take money, leave. As a CEO and cannot perform or even change a simple thing like company culture, then he is as good as useless.

At least at that position, he will do no harm..... just wave and shake hands. Edited March 28, 2016 by Kusje

Lala81 Hypersonic March 28, 2016 Share March 28, 2016 Self-employed is not as rosy as it seems. I am in a SME. Not only have to worry about profit and operations, also have to worry about customers, workers, suppliers and customers. Small fish swimming in a big ocean with bigger fish. Not easy being in a SME. I'm sure they will find something for him sooner or later. But priority has to go to his old boss who is going to be jobless soon as well (once the sale of NOL is completed). Both of them really did an excellent job with NOL and SMRT so don't worry about having no where left to go.

I just find it weird, how come chief of defence didn't ask to go into politics? Whereas chief of army is doing so well in politics now?
