Not people want to whine and complain about our public transport here, but our public transport really simply hopeless and useless. Cant solved any issues which surface?!

They never design a good and reliable train system in the first place and now waste tax payer money by saying scrap it. And no one dare to question them even another big mistake has made!

they already say it mah last yr... No need for ppl to question cos they ownself check ownself then ownself scrap ownself lor

we all diam diam follow what they ownselves agree lor

Rolling Stock[edit]

The line uses Bombardier Innovia APM 100 "people-movers", similar to the ones used by the Changi Airport Skytrain until 2006, coded C801 and C801A. C801s have been in operation ever since the start of service on the line in 1999, while C801As were delivered and started operations in late 2014. Each unit is 12,800 millimetres (41 ft 11.9 in) long.

From https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bukit_Panjang_LRT_Line

Even Changi Airport Skytrain had upgraded in 2006... LRT is still stuck with the 'old' technology, C-100 technology had been around since 1971 and Bombardier Innovia APM 100 is just an evolution of the technology not NEW...

So the technology is "45 yrs old"... but someone FAILED to highlight due to COST... now everything goes back to Gov, then says want to CHANGE... VERY SMART!!

Why so worry about stopping completely Bukit Panjang LRT......  :slow:

They need those beams and tracks for the new HSR from Jurong East to KL ... :yuush:

Save cost for new beams ... :we-all-gonna-die:

Actually if they really stop the bt panjang LRT completely is good news rather than bad news. They can revert back feeder buses and yet more reliable than the current LRT lo. Even if bus is crowded, buses bunching can solve the problem fast, but LRT cannot bunching le.

Maybe SMRT can learn from Changi Airport how they upgrade their old train system... better still Gov shd let Changi Aiport upgrade & run the BP LRT system..

The problem with feeder buses will be the frequency limited by traffic conditions... I don't know the area very well so I can't comment on how bad the traffic was and maybe that's the reason they started LRT...

Buses confirm would be limited by traffic conditions, but if the train system is not reliable, the end result also same as buses.

Traffic lights will be the killer.

True, thats why taking bus is very time consuming. Even for a short distance of bus ride, if you add in waiting time and traffic condition along the road, can take as long as 20 mins to 30 mins!

My armchair asspert view.

Bt Panjang LRT actually covers Choa Chu Kang, Teck Whye and Bt Panjang, and in between is major road Upp Bt Timah Road and last time KTM. So maybe LRT was conceived so as not to add to ground traffic then.

Now that there is a flyover over the busy Upp Bt Timah / Bt Panjang junction and KTM gone, maybe the roads there now can cope with feeder buses running around.

That is very true.my rule of thumb in sg is if its more than 5 bus stops then dont waste time take bus. Use mrt combo. Except for those e'way buses, cycling or e-scooter is quicker.

But firstly like i said train must be reliable lo. If not reliable, maybe take bus faster. Train confirm is faster than bus if they are reliable and fast. Imagine if you spend 30 mins on total bus ride timing for a short 3km. For 30 min train ride, you can take from town and reach Jurong liao. Lol.
