Nzy Twincharged March 23, 2016 Share March 23, 2016 (edited) Why people complain now and not like in the past? They have been "regularly" increasing fare. If they would maintain the fares like 80s,90s I doubt anyone would complain. If really need to increase fare than is expected services must improve. I think more people complain cuz of social media la. Last time when I was going to school encounter delays. But cannot tell anyone. Cuz no handphone and even if got handphone at most can call 1 or 2 people only. News spread very slowly and most people feel like its no big deal. Now the same thing happens and the first thing they do is complain on facebook and it can be seen by hundreds of people almost instantly. Even those not stuck in the delay also share the article and complain about how SMRT sucks. So the same amount of delay is happening but alot more people are complaining. Just on this forum alone. How many people always start talking about how bad the train is whenever it breaks down even though they aren't affected. It makes the problem seem alot worse. The train fares also increased, but I feel that it is quite reasonable? There are many other things that are increasing in price at a faster rate than our public transport fares. Its mainly due to inflation. The public transport operators also have to pay higher salaries as compared to the 80s and 90s. When they increase the pay over the years, does it mean one person has to do more and more work? Edited March 23, 2016 by Nzy ↡ Advertisement
Carnoob Supercharged March 23, 2016 Share March 23, 2016 There should have been enough witnesses given the numbers there. At least the no.4 guy in the file should know exactly what happened. I strongly suspect, they already know what happened exactly, but just diam diam until the funerals are over. I mean no point in bringing up these issues when the funerals aren't even over. I agree... Lurpsexx 6th Gear March 23, 2016 Share March 23, 2016 I thought of one more scenario. Maybe the experienced ones always stop walking when there is an oncoming train. The two trainees don't know/forget then bumped into the supervisor when he stopped walking and lost their balance. The supervisor never lose his balance so never get hit. The rest behind all stopped cuz they are experienced. Haha.. I dunno if u meant this as a joke, but I think its plausible.. IIRC, during the interview the authorities said that the train was still on autopilot during the approach to the station. For a lay person like me, I would have thought that autopilot is all good during normal operations. But then you know that a team of service crew is making it's way towards the approaching train, the logical thing to do protocol wise is to disengage the autopilot, driver on high alert to look out for this team, train to slow down even further during the final approach. Yes, I agree with you too.. think there maybe miscomm with the train driver...

Kb27 Supersonic March 23, 2016 Share March 23, 2016 (edited) pasir-ris-accident-data.png They panic as it's their first time, stepped on the stones and... well, let me leave it as it is, to me if I were walking on a railway track for the first time with a train fast approaching, I wouldn't be so calm and lean on the other side Training ? For newbies, there should have been a simple training on walking the track. If you see a train coming, stop, turn around, face and hug the wall or barricade and wait for it to pass. Something like that. I guess the training part is missing. If there are sections of the track without barricade and extremely dangerous to stand there, then the operations management should have seen it coming and do something long time ago. If they have not done something, then someone has to bear the responsibilities. This is just like passengers who dropped down on the track at some stations, bcuz some wise guy didn't think it was necessary to have barricades and want to save money.
