am keen to look at the 2016 s-max, getting older now, MPV more upright seating and easier entry/ exit looking more tempting nowadays

anyone know when it will be launch in SG?

Having owned a mpv for 9 yrs the third row of seats are hardly utilized unless you got 4 kids. Even if use is abused by freeloaders who don't wat to spend on transport. Changed to a Ford Fiesta but too cramp. I suggest u get the latest mondeo which looks like a cheaper Aston Martin with many safety features. Edited by Munhua

Anyone owns the 2011 Ford S-max? I would like to find out the fuel consumption & reliability of the engine & gearbox. Has anyone changed the head unit to monitor type? Also can the ECU be tuned? I have registered in the ford forum but has not gotten the approval from the admin after 1 week, is the forum still active? Thanks in advance for any input.

Hi the Ford forum has been plagued by many spams and bots, so we shifted to Ford Club Singapore in Facebook.

Im on a 2011 Smax and running about 13l/100km, some users can run below 11l.

Yes, it can be tuned to about 240ps.

Some.owners also changed to Fly Audio HU for a few years without any problem.

been driving my 240hp version for 4 years liao , its a good drive  but the gearbox is a bit lazy at times

good space for front and back seat . But tight space for the 3rd row ,its meant for kids or people that u dun like .

This car is quite good in kupping corner too ..

Thanks for the prompt reply. I tot the s-max eccoboost is standard 240hp? Btw where can I get the fly audio & wat is the cost like? I was quoted $1,200 for Alpine headunit with GPRS including the panel. Was looking for cheaper head unit alternative. Where can I tuning for the ECU? Is it remap or piggyback? What abt rims & suspension? Which workshop carries these accessories for the ford? Or any workshop to recommend? Thanks again.

1st few batches Smax were 203ps, until probably 2012 they change to 240ps.

Cant recall who carry Fly Audio, u can try Google. It was about $1.5k then.

There r not mamy 5x108 rims around, depending on your budget.U can get replica rims at $300 each, up to $2k each for Forged rims.

Suspension u may get Bilstein B12 full coilover or just lower springs from Eibach.

The differences in horsepower is due to the tuning of Ecu? Or hardware? How to differ between there 2 models?

Not so sure, seems more on tuning diff.

The only way is to check registration to find out engine spec.

Any idea when the new S Max is coming to SGP ?

Last heard RM may scrap thr move as price is too high. Call n check with thrm again.

Malaysia already bring in though.

Any idea when the new S Max is coming to SGP ?

Visited the RM showroom a few days after the Motor Show, and heard from the SA that the indicative pricing for the new S-Max is at $180K (was shown the red unit).

The reason for their pricing (offered by the SA) was due to price controls set in by Ford and that the new S-max has a high OMV of $37K (due to pano. roof, ventilated seats, buttons to fold down/up 2nd/3rd row seats etc).

Told the SA straight in the face that the S-Max will not move at $180K as people rather buy the BMW 2 GT (was going at about $150-60K then) with change to spare.

That said, the new S-Max is a notch up from the previous version, but RM needs to price themselves right. Given current COE levels, a pricing of $130K thereabouts will be more realistic.
