for idd calling, u may want to check "pfingo" (subsidary of starhub).

idd rates are cheaper compare to skype.

basically skype is video call program. for the basic account you can perform voice call and video call to another skype user. you need a good internetion connection for the video call to work well. there are the desktop version and also the smartphone versions. for smartphones the 3g connections works ok for skype but while on the move it may have terrible connection issues. for paid versions you can perform more functions like calling a land line or perform group video call. of course skype can never take over the direct phone lines or mobile calls. its just an alternatives to reach far away contacts. do try out the software to get a feel of it :)

but as with all VOIP calls, there will be a 1 sec lag.
