Actually, if you look at youtube and other social media channels, you can see that they are no longer copying. In fact, they have a lot of design and experience features that other companies tried to follow.

Look how far and fast they have progressed. This thread was created 9 years ago, they were mocked. Now, not the case.

So here it goes..this is the Geely Preface. I think the interior beats many Japanese cars out there especially the digital real estate.

China market love long wheel base and huge screen.

very interesting topic here. 

China had been the manufacturing country for awhile now and their quality are definitely improving. Guess that is what happens when u trial-n-error enough.

Read plenty of news about China going all green about vehicles as well.

But can Chinese cars last? Here is a video from a Geely Auto (one of the biggest brands of China) owner in China after owning the car for 1 year. He seems to think china IS ALREADY producing the goods...

for the last 10 years or so ........ sooo many new tyre brands coming into the market until blurrrrrrr.......... some more all bearing like AngMoh/Euro names ; Previously in the old days got Kum Ho/ Hankook (korean) making inroads already people were quite scared and any car spotting them were like considered CMI or "cheapo owner"

It is a very interesting subject. Basically I read 3 main questions. 1) can China build good quality car? 2) Can their car last? 3) Are they just copying?

The 1st question is related to how much you willing to pay? For the same amount you pay, what would you get from countries you deem to be good quality? Use the purchase price to compare. Of course the 2nd question is also very similar to the 1st. For that price, do you expect it to last longer than the higher price product or shorter? If it matches, already it is a bonus.

3rd question, if you see a wheel in any car from any country, it is definitely a copy because the wheel is first invented in China. Haha. How much design changes you expect from 1 model/brand from another? Would you be able to find similarity between 2 different brands from any other country? Of course if you are talking of outright copying, yes this is unethical and most cars today are not in this category. If China can put a space ship to space, it is rocket science to build a car? Why are most household appliances made in China today?

Not just breakdown. Fuel Efficiency, Quality on the Interior and Exterior and the life span lah. 

For the Chinese, this quality comes with a cost.
