Kippei 3rd Gear September 4, 2015 Share September 4, 2015 Tried and changed PCV valve on Tuesday and one day without engine check light but today half day, check light again. Car not jerky so spark plugs and ignition coils should be OK. Just changed fuel filter 2 weeks ago also due to check light but does not solve issue. Anyway, PCV valve got 2 type for standard Avante and 09 Avante. Got it less than 20 at Song Yi. Guys, any other things I can check for engine check light? Check for damaged hose and hissing sound and leaking fuel line. Visually/physically inspect the air leakage in intake/exhaust system for the following areas: -Vacuum hoses for splits, kinks and improper connections. -Throttle body gasket -Gasket between intake manifold and cylinder head -Seals between intake manifold and fuel injectors -Exhaust system between HO2S and Three way catalyst for air leakage 2. Visually/physically inspect the restriction in intake/exhaust system for the following areas: -Air cleaner filter element for excessive dirt or for any foreign objects -Throttle body inlet for damage or for any foreign objects -Throttle bore and throttle plate for chocking and for any foreign objects -Restricted exhaust system The next course of action is to buy this http://list.qoo10.sg/item/MAZ-NITRO-NO-1-BESTSELLER-MAZ-NITRO-FUEL/415153451 to clean up the injector at the same time if you can locate O2 sensor connector. Measure the pin 5 and 6 is around 9 Ohm Else you have to go to workshop test the fuel pressure to see the need to change fuel pump or not Are you using paper air filter or reusable type ↡ Advertisement
flashbang Turbocharged September 4, 2015 Share September 4, 2015 Based on the engine code, I would think it's a lambda sensor?
Kippei 3rd Gear September 4, 2015 Share September 4, 2015 Based on the engine code, I would think it's a lambda sensor? It depends. I am just systematic going through the elimination process. O2 sensor is not cheap. So start from the cheaper alternative. I fix a lean code before by cleaning the MAF and changing the air filter.

Nova Neutral Newbie September 6, 2015 Share September 6, 2015 Am using paper air filter, changed less than 2 months ago. Did Air intake system cleaning when I changed my fuel filter due to error 0172 as per JB Hyundai workshop recommendation (see attached). Have not check on the pin 5 and 6 of the O2 sensor. Can O2 sensor be changed on our own??? Will be buying the fuel cleaner now and will use them once received... Went to JB Hyundai workshop where they checked on the error code of 0172 and thought it will be detailed and see at least what could be wrong but seems like it is still a trial and error thingy where they recommend to change fuel filter and if problem still there then will change both O2 sensor and if o2 sensor cannot then will change the catalytic convertor as per what the guy says.... Other than this problem, had another problem with my car cranking issue where first few startup of car will be ok but after driving and stopping car turning off engine, will have to crank my car hard to start else won't be able to start.... Not sure if the 2 issues are linked but changed my battery on early Aug due to battery flat where old battery used for about 2 years plus. Battery was 12.7 before startup and after startup about 14.2V and after switch on lights and A/C will drop abit to about 13.9V etc.... Technician checked Alternator by starting car and removing the -ve point of battery and car never die off, meaning alternator is working.... Please correct me if I am wrong in any checks .... O2 sensor bank 1 can be assessed from the top of the engine bay but its not cheap. I will refrain from buying it unless i am sure it is faulty. By right, they should test the fuel pressure even before they start to change out the parts. Usually at this point, I will use ODB to check the voltage range of the O2 sensor while in operation The cranking issue sound like clogged injectors. Anyway, final resort I would recommend you to go Synergy Motor at Paya Ubi. They specialised in Hyundai if the cleaner don't work after a few tank of gas. My guess is now the fuel pump and clogged injectors.

Nova Neutral Newbie September 8, 2015 Share September 8, 2015 Have measured the ohms for both oxygen sensor but seems like only got 4 pins and I measured between the 2 pins nearer to the slot for the holder and both are about 9.6ohm. Oxygen sensor should be working I guess or any other checks? I have a OBD attached to my car but not sure if can see O2 voltage... what voltage should I be expecting for O2 while in operation? Will be using the cleaner this weekend when I pump petrol. Did called Synergy Gary before and he mentioned about the Canister or something that could be the cause which repair cost around 400plus. .. will monitor further for now... If your car has no issues. aprt from normal servicing +(oil, air filter & spark plug) - change AT oil if u haven't. this should be done abt every 40k. if u have clocked more than that and haven't done this b4 if there is a AT Filter for your car consider changing that as well. coolant inspect and if required trace leaks (weak hose clips & expanded hoses) Get your WS to inspect the belt if need change. For early detection check alternator baring making noise or vibrations A/C compressor unusual noise A/C compressor if not done b4 can do a flush (forgot if thats what they call it) max $50. change oil and replace gas. komoco recommends fuel filter change 60k i have exceeded that and not done it though. absorbers - check & compare tyres for uneven wear. thats abt all i could think of. Rajoana 1st Gear September 25, 2015 Share September 25, 2015 (edited) Thanks man! Any workshop to recommend? I am in the Bishan area well...sorry can't recomend any to you. Cos mine doesn't does extensive checking like what i have listed. I inspect all this myself and just tell him what i want to be done and even to the extend my part myself to cut cost. So unless u want to follow my very inconvenient way of doing things. BTW if u r changing ATF if u r changing only use hyundai ATF. The other thing i might trust is Red Line products which are not too over priced. Edited September 25, 2015 by Rajoana
