Yeah. Safer to get those with traction control and all that. My Verna always skidding around in wet weather even with fresh tires. Got used to it over the years though. But need to concentrate when driving in the wet.

Don't think so. All the tires I tried were new and manufactured recently. Car came with a set of Michelin tires when I bought it, previous owner drove about 10k already, can wheelspin easily in 1st gear on dry roads. Changed to Kumho KU31 and even worse, can wheelspin in 1st gear and still chirp abit when accelerating hard and change to 2nd. That was when tires were new and it never improved. Last set was Thunderer Mach IV tires and these performed similar to the Michelin tires I got originally. Wheelspin only in 1st gear.

On wet roads, the Kumho was the worst. Lost traction a few times when the tires were still relatively new with a few months of use only.

Quite some years ago, I was driving my brother's old Corolla (circa 1992). I forgot that vintage of car got no ABS, as I've been used to driving my Dad's more modern Altis. So I was approaching this traffic light when I saw it turn red. I stomped on the brakes and then the car suddenly started spinning, and headed towards the centre divider on the other side of the junction.

By some miracle I managed to avoid hitting anything, and I ended up facing the wrong way of where I came from. Lucky that time no traffic at all. Wah, really chua sai that day... [dead]

From then on I always very careful. Avoid slamming too hard on the brakes if possible.

From this generation of Celica which shares the same engine with Caldina GT4 1024px-Toyota-Celica-T200.jpeg

Bro, different lah. The one I caught is the 5th gen Celica (T180 series) with pop up headlights, while yours is the 6th gen (T200 series) with 4 big round headlights.

Just now saw a stock corolla liftback with SCU plate on CTE, didn't managed to take picture of this car. This car give me a very deep impression because of their WRC car in the late 90s.
