Thanks to the new Low Volume Motor Vehicle Manufacturers Act passed in 2015, DeLorean was able to announce earlier in the year that it would be putting back into production its legendary DMC-12 sports car. The ability to forgo costly crash testing and government regulations would allow the company to sell the car in limited quantities to consumers.

Now, after a few months of eager anticipation by fans and faithful alike, DeLorean has officially opened the order books on its new DMC-12. Those interested in getting their hands on one can head to the DeLorean website and place a pre-order. No deposit is necessary, and it’s a non-binding contract, meaning you can cancel whenever you want if you so decide. Of course, current DeLorean owners are expected to get first dibs.

DeLorean predicts that a mere one car per month will be built at its Humble, Texas-based facility initially, with expectations of ramping up production as more orders come through the door. DeLorean says that each vehicle will use completely original parts, with enough to build “at least” 300 new DMC-12s back to original specification.

 

Though the company hasn't given any specs or pricing as to the new DMC-12 just yet, the original 130-horsepower V6 will undoubtedly be replaced with something more modern. Expect to see either a V6 or V8 crate engine under the hood — compliant with EPA regulations, of course — with the ability to churn out anywhere between 300 to 400 horsepower (223 to 298 kilowatts).

Other features like brakes, wheels, tires, and the interior are expected to receive an update as well. Pricing won’t be announced until later in the year, but don't be shocked to see a price tag anywhere between $85,000 (€77,385) to $100,000 (€91,000).

My wife loved the Mazda 121.   She used to have a red one, 1.5 L manual.  Fun and cute.

Used to own a yellow one fun top as well. 1.3L manual. Power is adequate and really fun to drive.

Too bad previous owners may not have taken good care of it. Plus the wear and tear and can't get the correct parts, needed to scrap it. :(

 

This one even has spoiler. Thumbs up. *Can't praise you yet as I have to praise some others first. :p

 

One of my favourite compact sedan (with sunroof) in the 90s. Glad to see that the owner is taking good care of it!

My dad used to own this Charade SG. I wouldn't be too enthusiastic about it, this car sucked even in the 90s, only 3 speed auto & lots of mechanical problems. I'm surprised Someone actually managed to keep it till now!

 

However I actually saw the Hatchback Charade on the road today....so coincidental.

Wah piang so old car. After a certain point, time to swap liao lah. It may not be safe to drive this car anymore, given the advancements in safety technology. Already save quite a lot of money, swapping to a new car only costs about 40k for the new body + dealer profit margin. After that drive for 20 years lah, works out to only 2k/year for a new car body. At least can get this generation's safety features.

Don't really think this Defender is rare but the wood trimmings is what that caught my eyes . Hope he can maintain the outdoor wood in our weather.  But the wood is really charming and sets its apart from the others. Enjoy the weekend!
