Happily1986 5th Gear February 15, 2012 Share February 15, 2012 do not confuse tinnitus with ringing one gets when he or she steps into an extremely quiet environment. the latter is normal.
Chrispie 5th Gear February 15, 2012 Share February 15, 2012 Find myself experiencing this... very very irritating. Was told that it is irreversible to western doctors. Anyone else experience this and managed to recover?? dont think u can get any ans here. There are many possible reasons, and dont try any remedies recommended here as well. Please see an ENT specialist. I had it for a few months and i only noticed it when after i parked and switched off the engine, where the ringing became very pronouced. At first, i tot its due to enclosed space.. but when i noticed the sound persists in quiet environment, i knew somthing was wrong. WEnt to ENT and after the scope, i was told that i hv over sensitive nose and the excessive mucos is flowing to ear area and irritating the lining, and thus created the sound. Some nasal sprays later, it was gone. The cause may be very unique to individuals.

Cwong2910 2nd Gear February 15, 2012 Share February 15, 2012 my earplugs entangled with my rifle and was pulled out during Army live firing (just with 5.56mm ammo) At the end of the live firing i can't hear anything. Hearing recovered after 1 day but have been suffering from tinnitus since then I have conditioned myself to ignore this sound and it has not affected my sleep and daily activities. However, if this is affecting your life, do consider going for therapy http://www.nuh.com.sg/ent/patients-and-vis...s/tinnitus.html

Lala81 Hypersonic February 19, 2012 Share February 19, 2012 (edited) Chronic tinnitus is a symptom, means can happen to pple with normal as well as abnormal ears. There is no cure for the symptom. First, we would want to exclude some mild hearing loss as part of your tinnitus via checking your audiogram and looking at your eardrum. If its normal, it's unlikely the tinnitus is of any significance. Unfortunately even if u do have tinnitus associated with hearing loss, it's likely irreversible.
