3 petrol kiosks attendents crowded around and asked him why he didnt check before reversing his car. I will ask the manager of the petrol station to show me the video of the cctv. [:)]

A car reserved and hit my front bumper's corner (near the headlight) slightly when his rear bumper hit my car perpenticularly. His bumper kena a big dent of volley ball size (half ball), mine was fortunate and only about one-quater size of last finger's nail and depressed only slightly about the diameter of a sawing pin [:)] WHen I stared at m dent, it is visible.

If its your car, would you:-

1. Tell the other driver "Never mind, small matter. No need to pay for the damage"

2. Give him a good scolding and dont collect a cent.

3. Dont scold etc, but ask for compensation on the spot.

4. Insist he pays the repair bill.

If it is (3), how much will you ask him to settle on the spot?

I used gut feel and estimated if I repair (fix dent, spray paint) it may cost me between $ 50 to $200? So I told him "Thanks for apologising, $50 and we settle"

(He apologised at least 4 times during the 8 mins 'discussion')

I will keep the money and only repair after my car collects more dents.

Btw, if its a SHE, will your answer be the same?

Have a black and white stating that he is liable for this accident to cover ur ass.. if no written agreement he can report say u bang him. This is wat happen to my fren, the CNNBCCB taxi driver claim him for 3k when he was the one doing reversing out to main road and my fren bang onto him..

Private car owners I believe I will negotiate. As for Taxi Driver is Always NO WAY.

Be it He or She, I would write on a piece of paper the details of the accident and the agreement to settle with $50. Sign on the paper and photocopy and give the driver a copy later.

This is to protect you (in case the other party change story) as well as to protect the other driver.

Report the incident to your insurance and give them a copy of the letter.

Even small case, better to be safe than sorry.

give insurance company?

will not affect NCD since never claim right?

No sad.. U have witness to save u.. make a trip to the petrol kiosk again.. tell them u might need witness.

my fren works in the petrol company, he said he will talk to the retail VP (who oversees local petrol stations operation). In fact, the pump attendants are supposed to report such incidents to the management. I hope they reported my case and if not, they may kena from the management since I reported before they did it. :o

in fact i am planning to show them maybe the location of the air pump might have made the user park his car in an 'difficult' position and likely caused the incident unless the user moved his car very carefully after using the air pump :o , or in the first place the user should have parked his car parallel insteand of perpendicular to all the other cars including mine

Understand the rational to report the dent accident to prevent future allegation but find it quite troublesome.

If its a small dent, and depending the profile of the other party, likely will just wave off or just accept the $50 and sign to just acknowledge what actually took place.

Supercharged

So far, I had 1 encounter, my bumper dented, scratches & clip broke. Initially, wanted to claim the lady but decided to fork out for own repair. Cos the old lady is (1) retiree giving tuition at the centre near my place (2) her car repair cost will be much higher than mine (3) don't want to give her additional financial burden.
