Joseph22 Turbocharged February 6, 2012 Share February 6, 2012 My parents suffered alot during the stop and 2 period. they had 4 children I was the 3rd kid and my mum told us during CNY that she almost wanted to aborted my kid Sister in 1971. Stop at 2 was not the key that turn down our population. ABORTION is. I'm still firm on making abortion illegal in SG. Only for cases of Incest, Rape and a grety area of abnormal foetus.. I agree... my parents stop at two not because of the policy. Its because, they cannot affort. ↡ Advertisement

Tigerwoods Turbocharged February 6, 2012 Share February 6, 2012 Actually, if people will actually continue but stop at 2, then we will be fine. Now it's just what ? 1.16 ? This means a lot of people with more than 2 are compensating for others, but a lot of young couples have 0. I see some friends, DINK, until 40+ still studying for PhD, Masters, chiong the corporate ladder, travel the world, every weekend golf, how to have kids ? Not say its entirely their fault, its a shift in our core values. Many people don't see having a family as important anymore. Yes Lifestyles of the City life changes the perspective and priorities of our modern couple. who wants to have kids when they can have dogs ?
Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear February 6, 2012 Share February 6, 2012 WTF is the old man talking? Quickly go n join his old friends better. I believe the real issue is we failed to check the emigration of young citizens . Not the birth rate alone.
Csnewbie 1st Gear February 6, 2012 Share February 6, 2012 the PAPs should stop forcing down a Singapore they think it should be. Instate give us a Singapore that we want. If prosperity and happiness cannot go together. Then a balance of general approval should be applied.

If prosperity and happiness cannot go together. Then a balance of general approval should be applied. I believe they had overdone evacuating young citizens. Now excuse themselves by blaming citizens for lack of babies. Low birth rate due to inflation they created. Example: why engage experts who can not solve the flood issue immediately, need to spend time studying for PHD? Why bottle-neck the existing canal with lining instead of straightening it? The experts are really fakes.

Kiadaw 6th Gear February 6, 2012 Share February 6, 2012 It is not a problem but problem lies with enrichments and tuitions which can chalked up quite a big amt.... believe it or not...so imagine having too many kids and in order for parents to "train" their kids into talents, given that we do nt hv much n hv to import at current..... I've heard parents asking some yrs ago how to train their kids up and prep them for gifted programme... I always tot gifted programme is for gifted students...but apparantly it seems to differ from what I understand... Our education system is a piece of joke...if we hv trained so many to become graduates and could nt find a single talent out of it...wat r we implying abt our education system? Perhaps those in this field so wake up their idea.... Just something to think about, If our education is so 'World Class', why do kids need more tuition? If it is so good, why neighboring countries with their 'lessor' education, & probably not much if at all tuition, can so easily take away our jobs. There is a running comments about so & so FT know to talk only, but cannot work as good, everyone focus on the 'cannot work', but few focus on 'can talk', which is actually a problem with many Singaporeans. We are poor in the talk part becuase there is so little attention to the communication & expression parts in our education system.

But they did not indicate the point when the actual learning of majority of students are in the sweat shops tuition centres... Drive for show, Putt for money. Some of course are unable to get hitched due to SG girls see them no UP so they are just going through the motion of living life to enjoy and squeeze out all they can and drop dead when their time is up. Mustank Hypersonic February 6, 2012 Share February 6, 2012 I think we don't have to give like 20k. Just give say 500 to 600 a month per baby for 18 years. Not too much not too little just nice to bring up the child. Sarpork!!!!! ↡ Advertisement
