Evoque stopping at Lane 1 AYE

Background: about 715am along AYE to CTE, near Lower Delta exit.

Traffic Condition: moderate, average speed abt 70-80km/h

Involved Car: Red Evoque with white roof (SFE egg egg 9 E)

I was travelling in Lane 2, when suddenly I realised a shadow of a vechicle thru my rear mirror cut fr Lane 3 to Lane 2 (behind me) at abt 45 degree, then continue to cut into Lane 1. If I brake, it would have bang my rear. Then I saw it was a Evoque, and noticed the plate. OK, I was thinking just another yaya lux car thinking they own the road ... shortly after, when it was like 1/3 car length ahead of me, it suddenly attempted to steer left(45 degree again) in front of me. I gave a honk, then it stopped car completely on Lane 1 (I saw it thru my rear mirror & right side mirror). Till I drove to ECP and lost sight of it, it was still stationary on Lane 1.

I do not know if any car(s) behind it got bang, but really cannot understand what the driver was doing.

To the driver of this latest hot SUV - yes u are fortunate to own it, but your way of driving really do not deserve to drive ever again. Too bad we cannot do a thing about your behaviour, so please drive responsibly.

It's a landrover, so the engine probably stalled after he e-braked. [laugh]

[laugh] I was thinking the same. British marques are known for their unreliability. I have even seen the new XJ breakdown along ECP(lane 1 also) towards Jurong not long ago. Even though the new Evoque uses the new Ford's ecoboost engine I still have my doubts over the overall reliability.

Supercharged

Could be one of those idiot drivers who stop suddenly without pulling aside to look at road signs or GPS. Have encountered my fair share.

He must have stepped on his accelerator to cut you, then you honked, then he jam braked, then his engine die-ded.

This is a common "feature" of some European cars.

My long-time-ago Alfa had that.

So I hear, a few DSG VWs too!

My previous BMW SUV had a somewhat different malady - if I accelerate too hard and long, the engine and GB will go on crawl mode, with alarm lights flashing. Can do nothing, except to go to the side, stop and restart the engine to re-initialize.

BTW, I don't think the Evoque is made in Gt Britain right?

Land Rovers not too sure, but the US Jeeps are all made in Korea now

could it be faulty or erratic steering system and the driver was struggling to keep straight?

or just drunk driving etc?

Agreed. cutting abruptly behind me at 45 degree and to Lane 1, then again wanna do the same back to Lane 2. No car, not even lambo or whatever, should do that.

These vehicles are too high tech. Too much electronics and electrical stuff.

They are even working towards steer-by-wire steering wheel. Scary siah. The funny thing is, these manufacturers claim it's to reduce weight = reduced FC = reduced pollution. But, the fact is, the weight for new generation cars keep on increasing. [laugh] [laugh] [laugh]

Neutral Newbie

One sided story. I know the driver personally, and here's the scoop from the owner: "..i signal..he accelerate, block n horn.....he cut me back."

Owner is a seasoned trackkie, and yes, he is a low-profile owner of a Lambo 550-2. There is no hao-lian factor about him.
