Imagine future with Long island, blocking water from sea is one, building up water within the mainland is other. Huge downpours will also cause sudden water build up .... Must be able to divert externally if water level in main island start to build up.

Even PUB compile what's the %, don't think they can resolve the flash flood issue.

The whole area use to have more greeneries, recent development is Canberra street area, extension of Ave 8 and link to Admiralty Road. 

Probably the small canals around Ave 7 don't have sufficient capacity to take sudden increase amount of rain water.

I think they will have the statistics. 

PUB takes charges of those retention tanks, widening of canal, also naturalised of canal like those in Bishan.

So they are fully aware of requirement.

I remember when I was in secondary school, my school area is flood prone. Need to wad to almost knee high water to/out from school. 

Then came the Guillemard canal expansion, clearing of industrial area at Kallang river. Probably no more flooding in last 20 to 30yrs. 

But only recently it's the opposite side of Mountbatten road that was flooded, Jalan Seaview. 

The whole project took probably more than a decade or two.

Flood is flood. Dun keep chut pattern. Simi flash flood, sudden flood. Bababa.

Just tell us can u fix the problem?

If cannot we change contractor next month.

Still don’t know whenever there is flash flood happen in that place, these PUB  guys go there for what ah? Lol.
